FA Throw The Book At SWP

Google language translator

The Football Association has banned Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips for three league games.

SWP was found guilty of violent conduct for an incident during City's recent 1-0 defeat to Stoke.

Incident

Potters midfielder Rory Delap was sent off for kicking the ball at City`s winger but Wright-Phillips' reaction went unnoticed by referee Martin Atkinson at the time.

Following the game the match official watched the video and stated that had he witnessed the retaliation he would have immediately sent him off as well.

The ban comes into immediate effect, which means City will be without Sean for the away trips to Portsmouth, Liverpool and West Ham.

The FA are a joke. I can't defend what SWP did and therefore the ban is correct but how can they just ignore what Bosingwa did to Benayoun? Mind Bosingwa did say sorry, perhaps if SWP had said sorry all would be forgotten????

Ban is not correct because SWP kicked in self defence after being kicked 3 times so therefore is not violent conduct, its violent conduct for the stoke player because he made the offence. So SWP in my view has not done anything wrong!
mcfcthriller
Its hardly violent if you watch the replay. SWP just gives him a tap to say 'wtf are you doing- stop it'. The FA is a joke, I hope the City establishment remembers this and the next time they want any help... middle finger FA.

WE should pull all our players out of England teams for 3 matches in protest

The FA are so *****poor pathetic it's unbelievable.

Delap told BBC Radio Stoke: "It would probably be harsh for him to get banned from any games. "After what I did, his reaction towards me was to be expected really."

I bet if he was a United player he wouldn't have got three matches off. THe ref was looking straight at him and I cannot undertsand why he now says he didn't see it.

Damn, is he missig the Liverpool game!?? Oh the FA are always conspiring against us! I was so looking forward to a draw in that game!

This is a farce he should have had a yellow on the day for an instinctive reaction after being kicked but thats all.

Look, one door shuts and a window opens. This gives us the a chance to give our Number 12 a run in the side. Surely that's a good thing? No? Ok, making the most of it perhaps this will give SWP a bit of a rest and he'll come back even more enthusiastic than he already is.

Eboue kicks out violently after being fouled - gets a second yellow and a one match ban. Explain that one Mr.FA?
Thaibluefan
Agree he should have had a yellow card but now the book has indeed been thrown. Had hoped for something smallish, maybe a Penguin paperback, Austen-ian or Bronte-esque in tone. Instead SWP gets something altogether more encyclopedic and hard back, Darwin-ian even. It's just not fair.
