THE STORY TO COME

Round of 32

19.02.2009 v København (A) 20:05
26.02.2009 v København (H) 19:45

FC Copenhagen v City is drawn as Match 2 of the Round of 16 Draw. The winners of Match 2 will play the winners of Match 10 which is Aalborg BK of Denmark v RC Deportivo La Coruña of Spain, so if City can get past Copenhagen we could go on to play either our 3rd Danish or 2nd Spanish opponents.

The fact that City are more than capable of beating any of these three sides makes this a very real opportunity for City to at least reach the quarter finals of the competition. Better still, an eventual crack at AC Milan would be ideal.

Key dates...

Round of 16:
12 March 2009 and 18 - 19 March 2009

- Draw for the Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and Final:
Nyon, 20th March 2009 @ 1300 CET

Quarter-finals: 09 and 16 April 2009

Semi-finals: 30 April and 07 May 2009

Final: Istanbul's Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium on Wednesday 20th May 2009.

PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO THE CARL RAMSBOTTOM APPEAL:

On 27 November 2008, Carl travelled over to Germany to watch his beloved side play Schalke in the UEFA Cup, however due to a tragic incident at a German train station, Carl suffered life threatening injuries.

Due to this horrendous incident, Carl ended up in a coma for three weeks. He is currently in a rehabilitation unit in Germany while his family remain by his bedside.

The family are hopeful that Carl might be in a position to be repatriated to a rehab unit within the United Kingdom, hopefully sometime in March.

This match has all the hallmarks of a draw .... we will then go on to win at home ... I hope
Doody
Wish I shared your optimism Doody. With Robinho unlikely to be fit, a different defensive line-up (Dunne is likely to return - which may be no bad thing!) and no Nigel De Jong, I can see this being a continuation of our poor away form. If we lose badly we may not be able to make up the deficit in the return leg. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't have a good feeling about this.

Last chance to salvage something from a poor season. Hope the players and MH are up for it.
Thaibluefan
hoping the players show up for this one......cos they were certainly "not there" at Pompy

Looks like more Danes in the form of Aalborg if we can get through....AaB 3 Deportivo La Coruna 0

If the reported disputes do not affect the team, this is our last chance to get the silver polish out, which has been untouched for a number of years. I also think that it may save MH his job.
