Gunnar Nielsen Becomes City's Fourth Keeper

Manchester City announced today the signing of Faroe Islands goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen.

Talking to the MCFC official site the 22-year-old said...

'This is a really big club, and it's nice to come here knowing people. I know what they expect from me, and they will know what to expect from me. I am excited because I know that they believe in me, so I will work hard for them.'

'It seems like a club with massive plans that wants to achieve great things. I have met people at Carrington and there is a real harmony there, everybody seems happy and is focussing on the same goals. It's a good place to come to.'

'So many players would give their right arm to be in the position I am in right now. Of course it's an exciting time, and I am not going to let this chance go by.'

I cant see why we would want to sign another goalkeeper especially when he didnt play for motherwell at all this season. Its not like we need another young goalkeeper is it?

Motherwell is a tough gig for a young keeper, no shame in not making it there. But you're right, do we really need another keeper? When will he ever get a game in the reserves/B team. Do we have a 'B' team?

With Kasper off and Joe giving it serious thought we do need another young keeper to shadow Given

It's difficult to see how the lad is ever going to play in the first team, even if Joe leaves. I predict he never will. He would have been better off signing for a lower league club & proving himself, then if he's good enough to play in the Premiership he would do eventually.
