'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Rally Cry For City Fans

I for one am fed up with the constant negativity surrounding Manchester City Football Club, aren't you?

We lose one game and the majority want Hughes out. We win one game and the bickering stops, albeit for a few days. Therefore, just for once, no matter what Wednesday nights result might be against in-form Aston Villa, how about we Blues stop the moaning and show our support.

The tune might be old but does it really matter, it's the thought that counts.

im not really on this one because the majority are the same with wanting hughes out even if he wins one game or not. hes simply not upto it but we are stuck with him and he does get my backing whilst still in charge as much as i dont want him to be but to say not in so many words some of us are fickle i dont agree with one bit mate.

I agree with you Tudor, Hughes deserves our support. We have seen the bad aspects of our play and Hughes has brought people in to ammend them. We cannot expect miracles, we still dont have a winning mentality. If we can get a good away win run going then we would be climbing up the table.

hughes' results regretfully are simply not good enough for him to remain manager of the best club in the world.

I get behind the team no matter what. But I dont like hughes. As long as im cheering the team to victory or defeat, their isnt a problem. Hughes future is up2 ADUG, not me and my views.

I wanted to stir up debate but instead i've stirred up a hornets nest. Take a look at the City Forum and you'll see what I mean (OMG)!

City fans back their manager? Fat Chance! That's why we'vew had dozens of people at the helm in the last 20 years and absolutely no success whatsoever. Wish the moaners could support Hughes, but know they won't be happy until they've hounded him out and can start moaning about the next manager.

I'm sure most of us want to support Hughes and we all want success for city but he has probably spent more than last seasons theam was worth and the fact is we are worse off by far, This makes it very difficult to support him in my view, I can't see much improvement on last season if any in the league. Every match I hope that we win and it will be the "start" of our season but it hasn't happened and the season is beginning to come to an end. At the beggining of the season we all thought champions league place or at least qualify for the UEFA cup (without the fair play league) and maybe a decent cup run (league and FA cup) but nothing has happened or looks as though it will. Week in week out we get the same excuses about balance of the team and being naive, when will it come right? I want Hughes to succeed and I think he is a good manager (or has been) but perhaps he and City are just not a good match. I hope he can prove me wrong

The fact is that despite the steadfast loyalty afforded to Hughes by the owners in spite of some atrocious embarrassments, he was not their appointment; he was Frank's who fell out with Svennis. We've seen a lot of hacks miss that one. So in the cold light of day based on current form and injuries and this season's backward league performance I think he will be sacked at the end of the season unless results improve dramatically. It will be a great shame for our club to go through more upheaval as we all want success but I just feel that the "not their appointment" factor is a big one. Personally, I pressed the panic button after West Brom, then calmed down realising a mid season sacking would be madness considering our club's modern day managerial history. But right now, I'm getting right behind the team in the hope we can get through a tough few months in better shape and just maybe Hughes will earn all Blues trust and we can find the stability we all need. The odds are stacked against that happening though, I admit, but never say never.

Agree with you 100%! I'm quickly losing hope of ever seeing success in my lifetime given the fickle and negative attitude of our so-called fans. Lets sing for Hughes and show him the support he deserves!

Managers must live and die by the results of the team they assemble and tactics they choose. After thirty-odd games Hughes has failed miserably to convince me and many other fans that he is in control and knows what he is doing. Defensively we have been a shambles all season and he has not fixed it. He is paid a lot of money because he is supposed to know what to do to fix team problems. He does not know what to do and he fails to see the weaknesses in his management team. We are crying out for a defensive coach to support him. If we don't get the defence right the goals will dry up because the attacking players will be afraid to lose possession and play safe. I'm not saying I know what to do becasue I don't. I can't sing a note either but I sure know when the person I'm listening to can't sing either.

dakeb they do live or die by the team they assemble. Roman City we are worse off than we were last season, yes but only in points terms, Where theplayers are concerned I think since January we have a far better squad than last season. dakeb, Franks men spent all summer chasing goofy and ended up with tiny tim. Hughes is trying to build a team but you have to give him that full term where he is allowed to buy players he wants, not those thrust on him. In real terms he has had one window and that was January, and we all decided who we wanted, but wanting and getting in that window, do not go together. It does hot help anyone to question the validity of the manager every time he loses a match. I think Jb may be right in the fact that Hughes was not the owners choice and may well go in the summer, but I bet you this if we are in the same position next year with a different manager, who'll all want a new one.It does not work if you want a successful team. No Hughes is not going to get it right all the time, he will make mistakes, he will buy players that don't fit, but we all want the same thing. Hughes is not out deliberately to sabourtage this team because he once played for United. He wants to be a success as much as want to win cups and titles.Let him get on with his job without the hassle from the fans, he gets enough stick from the press.

Totally agree. We need stability, time to allow MH to bring HIS players this summer & then we'll see more success.

I love how this 'rally cry' article has turned into you lot bashing Hughes - I think you missed the point totally. The point is to get behind the team and the manager and anyone else involved with the club. The negativity being spewed out by the media is nothing compared to the negativity I've been reading on here the last few weeks. It's pretty much an entire new team and you expect them to gel straight away and be in the top 4 or something????? Last season we were far worse than we are this season - we just got some lucky results early doors. Yet Sven is a legend to half of you.... this is all because Hughes is an ex red. You need to get over it and start supporting the entire club. Not just the bits you want to.

Am behind the Manager for another 15 months. Get frustrated with the players whose sometime haplessness has long since lost its charm. Am behind them alright, I want them where I can see the buggers.
