Vital MC Man Of The Match Awards: Aalborg

City's 14th UEFA Cup game of this gruelling rollercoaster season ended victorious thanks to Ireland's Number One Shay Given, our Vital MC MOTM...

Much as I personally believe that the tactics of caution and containment caused us to sit too deep on the road yet again last night, I'd also suggest that our young side's relative inexperience also played a part in the tie going to penalties.

This was a time for character and cool heads and Shay, with those two fine penalty saves showed us all just why he is rated as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe. A terrific acquisition for City.

During the play I would have made SWP MOM, but the guy who won it for us was Shay Given and its a good choice.

I also thought Ned had a blinder and Dunney is improving all the time. Micah too is a lot more up for it.

buzzer..i still would have had swp as MOTM mate, because at times it wouldnt have gone to pens only for sweep tracking back and getting tackles in mate.

If he had scored I would have gone with that BM, but Given actually won us the match and thats why I went for him.

Bleeding norah, that poll came and went so quickly I didn't even see it let alone get a chance to vote! For what it's worth, thought Ned shaded it until the shoot out, at which point Shay mugged him and ran off with the champers1
