What Has Darius Vassell Been Up To?
Andy Thornton thinks Manchester City striker, Darius Vassell is more than likely chilling out on the golf course and spending time on-line rather than doing anything else.
Andy writes...
Darius Vassell probably isn't a very busy at the moment - having been rested since his 24-minute cameo-appearance in our defeat to Nottingham Forest, which ended out disastrous FA Cup campaign. That was on January 3rd.
Since then he hasn't played a minute for the first-team (and lets all be honest, we'd be disappointed if he had been put in ahead of Bellamy and Robinho!)
We can probably say with some certainty that he, like all professional footballers, has been at training on time, put some good running in, and then retired to the golf course to concentrate on his golf handicap. However, that's not all Vassell has been up to - it might not sound revolutionary but he has also been answering his fan mail - on-line!
Most pros have yet to venture onto the internet, save for suing people for their 'brand name'.com, though they can be forgiven for their lack of adventure - its not as if they have to sit and work out the cheapest way to get to Hamburg on Ryanair's flights!
He must be one of the first footballers to start using the internet to receive messages from fans, but the most impressive thing is that he is actually going to respond to all the messages we send him!
Vassell will be responding to his fans at www.contacttheplayers.com and deserves some applause for making himself more accessible to fans. Who knows, next game he might even have his laptop on the bench with him?!

Credit to Darius for that. I know I have shouted his name, followed by a few expletives, on more than one occasion over the past couple of seasons but he is a gent and I can't argue that he tries his best. Darius Vassel - City Legend!

No arguing that Darius is a good bloke and an asset to the squad, but City have moved on and so will he in the summer, hopefully with the best wishes of the City fans ringing in his ears.

I wish Darius all the success in the world, he started the season in the friendlies in fine form, better than I had seen him play for some time and then he was injured and lost his place.I think he would make a greatr partner for Bellamy, but sadly I don't think DV will be here after this summer.
