City's 'Thank you to the fans' of £5 Adults and £1 Kids tickets for the second leg of the UEFA Cup Quarter Final against Hamburg have sparked unprecedented scenes...
Queues formed around The City of Manchester Stadium and at The CityStore in town as Blues turned out in force to take up the club's ground breaking offer.
Executive Chairman Garry Cook told City's Official Site:
'We are delighted by the response, which has been absolutely magnificent even by the standards of our loyal supporters.
The phone lines were jammed and the ticketing website was simply inundated.
We would like to thank them all for their patience, not forgetting our ticketing staff who have worked tirelessly to keep things running as smoothly as possible.'
The club have taken the step of temporarily suspending sales to non-Seasoncard holders.
So City Seasoncard holders can renew their tickets up until and including Sunday 29th March. Thereafter, any tickets not taken up by Seasoncard holders will then go on open sale on Monday - with the club extending the £5 offer for an extra 24 hours until the close of business on Monday evening.
So we are heading for quite a night on Thursday 16th April as City push for a place in a UEFA Cup Semi Final on the last day of April against Werder Bremen or Udinese.
Yet as predicted, hardly any of the Great British press's sports hacks have reported "Football Ruining" City's initiative. Funny old thing...
