Superman Ireland, ankle knacked at Carrington last week joins Vinny Kompany, who nevermind his relentlessly cortisone injected toe injury has now torn a hamstring. Alledgedly City's 50th Hamstring injury of the season.

Despite other ongoing injury concerns, Planet Blue will take heart from the fact that we could still 'do a Schalke' on Hamburg on Thursday night as The Blues only took 18 fit senior players, some carrying knocks, over to Germany last November and still came away with a classy win.

If Petrov can boost Hughes' flagging options then so much the better.

it will be great to see him back in the first team and we have really missed him,he will take time to be fully fit though so i hope nobody expects too much too soon from him.

Hughes will be sorely tempted to throw him in a the deep end. He's already done it with SWP, Robbie and Vinny when they weren't quite right.
