Manchester City Kids Comeback

After their excellent performance against Italian giants AC Milan, City were looking to build on their success with another victory in the Dallas Cup.

City's second match in the space of 17 hours ago kicked off at 2pm Texas time in extremely windy conditions.

Cassell's young blues side could not have got off to a worst start as Tigres took the lead after 15 mins. By half-time they had a commanding 2-0 lead and the result looked ominous.

After half-time, with the wind now behind them, City set about the momentus task of overturning Tigres' two goal lead.

On the hour mark, Liberian wonder-kid Alex Nimely-Tchineni added to his goal tally after scoring from an acute angle to beat the keeper. The 'City Kids Comeback' was on.

With only 17 minutes left on the clock, Greg Cunninghams header drew City level as the Blues pushed on for the winner.

Keiran Trippier sealed the win with a long free-kick that flew over the keeper and into the back of the net- with a little help from the wind. The 'City Kids Comeback' was complete. Manchester City 3-2 Tigres.

Tigres launched a final push for an equaliser but a resolute City defence held firm to take the three points and a memorable win.

The other game in Bracket A saw AC Milan suffer their second defeat, this time at the hands of Toronto FC who beat them convincingly 3-0.

City have their final group game against the impressive Toronto FC on Wednesday afternoon and are now only one point away from the quarter-finals.

Manchester City Squad: Abdi Ibrahim, James Poole, Jeremy Helan, Andrew Mitchell, John Guidetti, Joe Clegg, Tobias Johansen, Reece Wabara, Andrew Tutte, Robbie Mak, Alex Nimely-Tchineni, Greg Cunningham, Chris Chantler, Ahmad Benali, Jack Redshaw, Sean Tse, Dedryk Boyata, Omar Elabdellaoui.

Well doneCity youth, hope you go on and win the cup now. Just wish the senior squad could demonstrate that kind of resilience.

I think that coming from behind to win like they did will give them a great boost when they face Arsenal in the second leg of the FA Youth Cup where they are 2-1 down.
