Vital MC Man Of The Match Awards: Hamburg

Elano Blumer was absolutely outstanding for City last night and wins the Vital MC community's vote for MOTM in the ultimately doomed fightback against Hamburg...

His drive, enthusiasm and passion was in stark contrast to the confidence shattered, disinterested looking player that struggled so badly on the same stage against PSG four months ago.

Elano's performance has had Planet Blue buzzing with excitement tempered by a degree of concern as to whether or not the popular midfielder could be deemed surplus to requirements by Mark Hughes this summer.

Certainly, the player can count himself unfortunate to have been substituted at a time when City's players were worryingly tiring en masse once again in the latter stages of a game even before Richard Dunne's latest clumsy sending off. Stevie Ireland for example, had a rare quiet night. Should the game have eventually gone to penalties, Elano's composure would have been badly needed.

Here's hoping that like the rest of the squad, Elano can maintain the same level of commitment shown last night as City begin the battle for the 18 remaining Premier League points available to us. It won't be easy.

elano played like man fighting for his life, his family, his money, his country, the world and for CITY! he was class and a joy to watch. a top, top, top manager would make elano into a world beater once again. i hope he stays for next season.
