'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Everton Post Match Reaction

City's excellent win at Goodison Park keeps us in the mix for that 7th placed finish. It also means we are undefeated on Merseyside this season.

What they said...

Mark Hughes, after seeing his side hit 8 goals in 3 consecutive wins:

'We were excellent today. There was a great focus in our play and some of our attacking was excellent as well. We scored at good times and although we had a bit of a wobble at the end, we won the game comfortably.

'We've had decent performances away from home before but not got the breaks. Today I thought we looked really nice and solid. Going into the game, the lads were very much of a mind that this was an opportunity for us.'

'Robinho was excellent today, not just for the goals but his all-round game, and he is really hitting some form for us. He's had some stick this season but his play - and that of Ireland's - was outstanding.'

David Moyes, birthday boy went a bit Taggarty-Whinger:

'I expected us to win it, I expected us to do what we do, so I'm just disappointed we didn't do that.

'It was two counter-attack goals. I think the first one was from our free-kick and the second one, I think we were having a shot at the edge of their box.

'We didn't defend particularly well after that, so we gave them those opportunities.'

That was our 52nd competitive game of the season by my reckoning.

Are Everton the new Rags? As BM has pointed out, Moyes could whinge for England, the Everton players appealed for everything, mouthed off to the ref and got into spats with our players constantly. The icing on the cake was the Fergiesque 7 minutes of time added on. Sound familiar?

We should get all the credit for this result - but we wont. The media will pick up on a tired Everton side after the win against the rags and draw against Chelsea.

I dont think the scoreline reflected the fact that City could have had another three had Howard not been on top form and was their best player.
