Hughes Divulges Details Of Barcelona Meeting

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes attempts to clarify what was discussed when Executive Chairman Garry Cook met with Barca`s President Joan Laporta.

The following audio clip lasts 1 minute 5 seconds.

Mark Hughes

I wonder...

* Was any potential transfer or loan deal discussed?

* This time last year Barcelona wouldn't have entertained talking to any City delegate, so what has changed?

* What does 'building relationships' actually mean?

Perhaps Cook wants to invite the Barca first team squad around his place for a BBQ.

We're in for one or more player. Plain and simple. They're just not going to talk about it, and they're denying everything so that other teams don't come forward bitching about how we 1)have far more money than anyone else, and 2) we're cornering the market before the window is even open. They're doing their best to keep the FA and Fifa off their backs so that the rest of the PL teams don't demand salary caps and control everything else that supposedly is within our power to destroy football.

It's just like when the bloke next door wins the lottery - you know him but never spoken, then all of a sudden you want to be his best mate. . . . I don't mind though, as it's City that are the lottery winner

well that clarified that then, as clear as a well documented piece of mud. Thanks Sparky.

Barcelona and City have everything to gain from being friends. There will be player movements between the teams, possibly at all levels (including Academy). But there will be some transfers and loans too. This can only be good news. And it will really annoy Taggart and the Stretford mob
