Hamburg Steal City's Luck

After Manchester City hit the headlines with 'Balloongate', it seems Martin Jol's Hamburg SV have taken away City's bad luck after the 2-1 loss at Eastlands.

Hamburg have slipped to fifth in the league and have now lost against Werder Bremen in the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup.

Meanwhile, City have recorded three straight victories since the Hamburg clash including an away win at Everton.

Hamburg's loss against Werder Bremen included their own comedy goal in the 'Papergate' affair after a fan threw a screwed up piece of paper onto the pitch causing the ball to bobble up and a routine back pass ended in a miss-hit and a corner. This resulted in a Werder Bremen goal and Hamburg crashing out of the UEFA Cup.

Perhaps this is a good omen for Sunday?

poor Hamburg, I'd have liked them to win if it wasn't us. They battled like hell to stay in.

It was a shame, they were unlucky and I was hoping they would go all the way after beating us. Im supporting Shaktar Donetsk in the final, Elano's ex-team ^o^

You make your own luck in Deby matches and the Rags are on form and need to win on Sunday to maintain their grip on the Trophy, don't expect any favours from them. I just hope the right team turns up.

Tough luck!! They certainly robbed us & glad to see their seasons has imploded!

Must admit I had a feeling they would go all the way after taking us out ......

how exactly did they rob us? we had nothing but extreme good luck throughout our uefa cup campaign
No 28... Uwe Rosler!
Oh well, such is football. Good luck to Martin Jol, despite us battering Hamburg in the second leg I too had hoped that they would go all the way. I shall be supporting Werder Bremen now, seeing as we were better than Hamburg, and they managed to beat us, I'd say Werder were the best team left in the competition, if you follow my logic.
