Liverpool Hope City Can Do Them A Favour

Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard hopes Manchester City can go to Old Trafford today, beat United and in doing so keep the scousers Premier League title race alive.

Gerrard scored twice in a 3-0 victory at West Ham United on Saturday which took Liverpool back to the top of the table on goal difference, and should Sir Alex Ferguson's side fail to pick up any points today, the Anfield faithful will be more than delighted.

Gerrad told Setanta Sports...

'United have got a tough game. Man City have just come into a bit of form and derby matches are never easy so we wait and hope City can do us a favour.'

Liverpool and United have 80 points, with the Anfield team possessing a goal difference of plus-46 against the Old Trafford club's plus-40. However, Liverpool only have two matches remaining and United have four.

Of course City are not going to the Swamp to do anyone a favour except for themselves. There is pride and a potential place in next season Europa Cup at risk, nevertheless should City get the result many are after, I'm sure Liverpool fans will be more than willing to buy Blues followers a pint or two in celebration.

Never mind Lioverpool, we need to do ourselves a favour and turn up with the right team.

I have a feeling that today may see the type of team we could have been all season if everybody had been home all year instead of off on holidays for part of it
