'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Stephen Ireland OSC's Player Of The Year

After missing out narrowly on the PFA Young Player Of The Year award, Stephen Ireland has deservedly been named as City`s Player of the Year by the Official Supporters Club to cap a fantastic season for the 22-year-old.

The talented midfielder has a total of 13 goals to his name in all competitions and has consistently been one of City's best players.

After his summer training regime, Ireland has made sure that his name is first on the team sheet with the influx of players only aiding his performance.

The Irishman has built a fantastic on-field relationship with Robinho which has produced some moments of pure magic and one can only imagine the quality of his football after City's world-class summer acquisitions take to the field next season.

Stephen Ireland commented after winning the award, stating: 'I'm thrilled that the supporters have voted for me and I would like to thank them for the way they have backed me, not just this season but ever since I made my debut. There have been some great performances by some of the other lads this year, so for me to be voted the winner of the OSC`s award makes me very proud.'

Runners-up to Player of the Year award were Vincent Kompany and Pablo Zabaleta, with Daniel Sturridge being announced as the winner of the Young Player of the Year award.

The fans think the world of you, Stevie! Please sign a contract quick... We need you! You could be part of potentially the Premiership's best midfield line-up with Robinho, Petrov, SWP, Kompany, De Jong and yourself... Let's get Johnno back fit as well
Sindbad
Was there ever any doubt he'd get the award?

I'm a little surprised at the contract situation. I didn't expect this from him.

Great player and well deserved, still think he was robbed of young player of the year!and a big thanks to City for selling us Charlie,he's had a great season with us,wherever he's played, and funnily enough for a "big, lumbering, slow bloke"took "young player of the year" Ashley Young completely out of the game at their place!
CoxintheBox
Seems right. He's had a terrific season and has found consistency he's lacked in years past. Will he make a move to a bigger club?
