Birmingham City Interested In Joe Hart

The official Manchester City website said earlier today that the clubs number two goalkeeper, Joe Hart may spend next season on loan at another club, possibly Premier League new boys, Birmingham City.

Joe (22) was the clubs first choice shot stopper until Shay Given joined in January and now the former Shrewsbury Town ace wants to keep his hand in elsewhere.

Mark Hughes said...

'Joe is frustrated and obviously wants to play. We will look at his situation in the coming weekend - it might be to both Joe's and the club's benefit if he did go out on loan.'

'He'd be playing on a regular basis and, given his ability, he would no doubt improve his standing in the game and help his development and value to the club, so a loan is something we'll seriously think about.'

I bet Birmingham want Joe Hart. He is a great goalkeeper. Shay Given is one of the very few whose experience and anticipation can keep him out of the first team, for now. But I think there should be a clause in any loan agreement that if Shay gets injured City can get Hart back quickly. Either that or set a high price for Hart's services.

Much as I like the idea of Joe getting a game every week for his development I am not sure about leaving us without a first class back up for Given....

Haven't heard mention of Kasper for a while, presumably he'd be back up and might be a bit happier about staying. I'm a bit out of touch regarding Brum but do they still have Taylor and if so isn't he the Northern Ireland goalie? Be good for Hart to have regular footie although I fear he may get backache before an England call up.
