Barry 'Sold' On City Plans

England midfielder Gareth Barry has defended his move to Manchester City.

The 28-year old moved to the City of Manchester Stadium last week for £12m, after 12 years at Villa Park. Now established in England's starting XI, Barry says he was sold on the idea of moving to Manchester after speaking with friends and family, as well as talks with manager Mark Hughes.

Much is expected of City this coming season, with Hughes able to enjoy a lengthy transfer window for the first time backed by significant funds from the club owners. In the past year he's already signed the likes of Robinho, Shay Given, Nigel de Jong, Vincent Kompany, Craig Bellamy and now Barry.

Good luck to him - good servant for many years - time for villa to move on without him and city to move forward.
nazvfc
Well said nazvfc .....I hope we see him slot in and continue his great form.
Doody
thanks - I'm a villa fan but love football in general - why hate Man City? if a team plays good football I'll enjoy it regardless of the team - both our clubs are good clubs with tradition - I remember walking to Villa park with Man City fans - great lot always had a good word to say about villa. Anyhoo - good luck to both teams.
nazvfc
not convinced he'll take you where you want to go though!
merlin
best midfielder that you could have signed in my opinion, he is far better than many believe, not far from the likes of lampard.
willowavfc
Merlin not on his own he wont but is another piece of the jigsaw
Buzz Lightyear
nice to see some fans can be humble and grateful to the lad after years of service to the villa. willowavfc and nazvfc you are a credit to your supporters guys. barry i hope will give us more determination in the area of midfield, tall, strong and box to box, also chips in with as few goals in a season, penalty king also cant grumble at this sighing really.
