Khaldoon Targets Up To Six New Players

Manchester City Club Chairman Khaldoon al Mubarak has stated that the Mark Hughes hopes to sign another four to six players but will not be held to ransom by greedy clubs.

Al Mubarak said, 'We will shrink our squad and add four to six players. Key for us is that we trust Mark and any acquisition is based on his view.

'I`m frustrated with people assuming we are going to throw crazy money at deals, that we won`t understand true values and we can`t negotiate or get value for a player. We`ve had numbers thrown at us that are a joke.

'There are situations where a £10 million player will be offered to us for a City price of £20 million. We just leave because at that point there`s no point arguing; if people are throwing crazy numbers at us, fine, deals won`t be done.'

'Look at Sheikh Mansour; he`s a very shrewd businessman who has conducted himself in a professional way. I will defend the value of every deal we have done.

'Look at our Robinho deal. If he went in this transfer window for the same price it would be a steal. Our deals to date presented fair value to the clubs we brought them from, fair value to us and are typical of the type of deals we are looking to make.'

Commenting on the recent transfer of former City target Kaka to Real Madrid, the City Chairman said, 'When we looked at Kaká, the numbers being thrown around were crazy, suddenly in the news you see 'City are crazy` and 'City are irresponsible`.

'Why is it when Real Madrid not only talks about but actually closes two deals, like the ones they`ve closed with the numbers they`ve committed to, it`s fine?'

I like this man more and more ...he is the voice of reason ..restraint and more importantly reality ...
Doody
I totally agree with Doody, this guy seems to have his feet on the ground, not be a huge egotist and want us to build to success, which surely has to be right. Just think what Liverpool would have given to have him rather than their two jokers who can't agree anything between themselves and then hang their dirty washing out to dry. At the moment I am feeling quietly confident and mainly because of the people that are now running City. Wswilly

It will show that we are not prepared to pay whatever price clubs ask for players and if they don't take the offer thats there then City will just move onto the next target.
Buzz Lightyear
I agree: I like him a lot: sensible, considered, and absolutely minted.

You know, I was reading this quote from Chairman Khaldoon al Mubarak and it suddenly occurred to me that he was talking exactly like the fans at Vital Man City -- most of the posters at least. I have heard similar views from many posters in Vital. Al Mubarak is not just chairman -- he is a fan! With leadership like this he will rally the club and its fans for a great and successful future.
Sindbad
you cannot fault this guy, obviously trying to build the club from the ground up, stuck to everything he has promised and lets face it, has had the balls to come out and publically insult the hierarcy in football and put them to shame.. it only a matter of time before we ARE the top table that they want to get around and deal with city
dopeeze
What is he on about? You havent won a trophy in God knows when, you've never even finished in the top 7 in the prem and he's trying to question Madrid's spending?? I'm thinking 9 CL titles and 31 La Liga titles says they can spend how much and when they want! Maybe no one will feel like 'City are crazy' if you at least got into the UEFA Cup without the help of fair play! We're all waiting to see when this 'project' of yours will materialise btw. We'll see how long these players who are so confident you're going to win a trophy, you're on the up will stay for.

Funny how a United fan comes on here reading our discussions... what’s wrong with the gossip at Manure... Oh yeah forgot the only thing United can talk about is the lady boy river dance and how much more dept you will circulate throughout the season!
mcfcthriller
Listen you make a point that we have not won anything in 30 years but we have to start somewhere, it’s because of clubs like the United’s, Chelsea, Arsenal that we needed a guy with cash to compete with the big dogs... may I remind you fickle Manure fans that before Eric Cantona came wasn’t your club looking in trouble?
mcfcthriller
mcfcthriller - We are in debt, but how many big clubs arent? Tottenham finished 5th twice and Everton even came fourth without looking for the players you're looking to sign! You've been pumping money into your team constantly for the past 3-4 years and still haven't broken the top 7! Shouldn't that open your eyes? Shouldn't that make you realize that you're just chasing big names and not players who fit into your team just to prove that you have the money? Please copy and send my last sentence to Cook and the other lowlives at your club who THINK they know what they're doing!

There's debt and there's debt, FU and the rags debt is astronomical. Massive. 700 million quid and rising by the day. For Sale this winter. We keep telling you!
Johnny Baguette
I just hope that our owners know how it is to be not taken seriously and that will make them more than ever determined to succeed. I think Khaldoon al Mubarak has got the message that their is indeed those in the heirarchy and then all the others.
Buzz Lightyear
JB - I'm sure you know that Chelsea are in more debt than us btw. Rising debt? Interesting I guess all payments we've making on it for the past 5 years, the trophies we've been winning, the record deals we've been signing and the fact that again....we are the most valuable sports brand means our debt is rising by the day. I never thought of it like that! Maybe we can go on sale and the King of Saudi Arabia can buy us. That could be good for us! You can go on about our debt, we'll just keep bagging the trophies. Come to think of it, the next time you win a major trophy, we'll have been completely out of debt! Hahahah how does that make you feel?

FAO City Girl - might be better if you added the links via the City Chat forum.

I've posted them up in the forum. There is some interesting new information in these which I think the UK tabloids missed... Though of course i don't read them all! Thanks City Girl.

Now we have Barry, my targets would be Tevez, Eto'o, Luisao, Taiwo, Schweinsteiger... The last two in particular would significantly strengthen the left flank of the squad where we could get into deep problems if either Bridge or Petrov can't avoid injury. We have many more options down the right flank.
