Man City & Chelsea Fight For Carlos Tevez

Carlos Tevez is 1/10 odds on favourite to join Manchester City.

Saturday 20 June 2009 and Manchester United issued the following statement...

'Following contact received from Carlos Tevez's advisors last night, in advance of the deadline the club set for concluding negotiations, Manchester United announces that Carlos will not be signing a new contract with the club.'

'The club agreed to pay the option price of £25.5million and offered Carlos a five-year contract which would have made him one of its highest-paid players.'

'Disappointingly however, his advisors informed the club that, despite the success he has enjoyed during one of the club's most successful periods, he does not wish to continue playing for Manchester United.'

'The club would like to thank Carlos for his services over the last two seasons and wishes him good luck for the future.'

Chelsea are 11/2 second favourites to sign the Argentinean but realistically, they don't have a hope in hell.

It might be a tad premature but let me be the first to welcome Tevez to Sportcity.

I think its looking good, His agent said this "This is purely and simply his personal decision. It will not be anyone else's decision. It will not be mine or other parties involved. "He has to sign the next five years with a club he believes has got ambition to go forward in the Premier league, a club with history and one that really wants to achieve things. "Carlos does not want to go to Liverpool because of their competitive nature with Manchester United. He does love the United fans very much and has a lot of respect for them. "I think that if you look at Carlos's history, he has always gone into grassroots clubs like Boca Juniors and Corinthians, who had not won anything and were at the bottom of the league when he joined them and he won the title with them in his first season." The quote is from the BBC and that description isn't far off City. Now Arsenal have signed their defender Kolo Toure could beonhis way and that is excellent news as his brother Yaya has said he has received an interesting offer from the EPL, not Arsenal and that one day he would like to play with his brother. Time is running out for his brother, fingers crossed.

What happens if the lad wants to play for football reasons though? Champions league, europe in general or win trophies? Will he still pick City? Hmmmmmmm!!!
Zbam
Can't see why not Zbam. Its only one season and i'm sure City will be in Europe next season. Anyhow, success will be all the more sweeter to win with a club outside the top 4.

If Hughes, Cook and Al Mubarak can bring Tevez to to Manchester City they will have achieved one of the biggest transfer coups in history. He would be a Blues legend. The prospect of having a strikeforce of Robinho, Tevez and Santa Cruz in a 4-3-3 formation is mindblowing. Ireland, Barry and SWP behind them... Eastlands will need the extra seats if this happens...

He is on his way ......

What happens if the lad wants to play for football reasons though? Forgot to say, moving away from a club to join another club for more playing time IS football reasons. Enough said.

United to Citeh? Wow.. He can expect a pig's head to be chucked at him then? (I'm referring to Figo's treatment at the Nou CAmp) ! :-)
