MCFC Continue Youth Policy With McDermott Contract

Manchester City's commitment to it's superb Academy has been underlined again this week as striker Donal McDermott signed a 2 year contract extension...

The 19 year old Dublin born forward who won the FA Youth Cup with City the season before last has been at City for four years which included a brief loan spell at Milton Keynes Dons. The lad is understandably delighted. He told the club's official site:

'Life is exciting here and I'm sure it will be more so. The reserves under Glyn Hodges feels like you're part of the senior set-up - when they went to Schalke and Santander last season, we went as well.

'You're part of unbelievable times here, and though it might get harder to make the breakthrough you can only learn from good players. I'll maybe go out on loan for a while next season, keep on learning, and see how it goes.'

If you're on a 5-year contract, fine. 2 years means you're still a minnow.

What position does McDermott play?
Gavin Cooper
Didn't he play left wing in the Youth Cup side, Gav?
Johnny Baguette
Yeah - it doesn't always pay to copy and paste the official site as unfortunately there is still a real lack of knowledge used there.

How nice to see you again. Hope all is well.....??
Tudor
Well done lad. Try not to get too disheartened by all the galacticos on our radar.
