Laporta: Eto'o Has A Stratospheric Offer From City

Barcelona President Joan Laporta has confirmed that Manchester City have made a tasty offer to rag Euro nemesis Samuel Eto'o...

At the studio's of iCatfm, Catalunya Radio, the likeable Barca top man revealed today that Eto'o 'has had a stratospheric offer from City that if he accepts, will make him the best paid player in the world.'

Laporta went on to say that Eto'o would like to stay at the Nou Camp but City's would be a difficult offer to refuse. Furthermore, he added that were Eto'o to leave, then Barca would continue to pursue David Villa, remarking that Villa and Eto'o would be "perfectamente compatibles."

This backs up the stories knocking around the Vital MC Forums that Barca have accepted City's offer for the brilliant striker.

Straight from the Horses mouth, looks like it's moving closer every day. Just down to convincing Sammy that he looks absolutely fabulous in Sky Blue and that Alderley Edge is twinned with Sitges. Sure the cash we're offering him will help, but I predict a few jealous hacks dusting off their "City ruining Football" headlines again, perhaps with one or two bandwagon-jumping MP's getiing in on the whole thing as well. C'est la vie, and I for one could care less when I watch Samuel Eto'o terrorising the likes of Ferdinand and Vidic again next season. BRING IT ON!

what worries me is eto'o doesnt seem keen to join us and is that a good thing for us ? i want players who want to play for us and not being forced on us because there clubs cant resist the money we are willing to pay for them. he also didnt do much against the 2 games against chelsea and only scored against manure and i thought it was a tad fortunate if im honest. the questions are DO WE WANT A PLAYER WHO DOESNT REALLY WANT TO COME and DO YOU THINK HE WOULD MAKE IT IN THE PREMIERSHIP ?
Mike Hunt
Etoo may indeed need an adjustment period- but with our current crop of strikers and hopefully the addition of tevez, we won't be relying on a single top player to pull us through (as many expected last season when robinho arrived).

We are obviously calling his bluff by offering the contract he wanted if he left on a free with some of his transfer fee added to his terms. If he agrees to come it will be our most significant signing as a club. He is 3yrs younger than Drogba so we should at least get that period with him at his peak. He really does not want to be playing outside the Champions League. We will no doubt be atttempting to convince him that we can make top 4 this season. We need to get him flown in now from Africa and tell him the weather is normally like this lol. I can hardly believe this is really happening, but it is. Deep joy!

mike from what i would guess, a good deal of his wages would be bonus dependent, they may meet robinho's wages or go a little higher after taxes, but they'll give him bonuses that will probably take him above the wages he demands if he knocks in 25+. that will make him want to play for the money, and when he hears the praises and the fans treating him like the second coming of jesus he'll play for the club.

I DONT THINK IS THE RIGHT TOME TO MAKE A MOVE FOR ETO BECAUSE NOW WITH CARLOS TEVEZ SUFFER FRO BEING FORGOTTEN AND TO SEE THAT WE R GOING AFTER ETO AND ALRADY WE HAVE SATA CRUZ AND ROBINHO IN THE FRONT HE LL CHANGE HIS IDEA BECAUSE HE WANT REALLY PLAY AND HE GOT THE SKILLS MORE THAN SANTA CRUZ THE MARK HUGH BOY HWO I THINK LL BE THE CAUSE OF FIRING MARK IF HE DONT MANAGE TO PUT 4 STRIKER IN THE RIGHT PLACE OF THE PITCH AND FOR SUCH MONEY FOR ETOO WHO WAS CRITISISE ABOUT SELFISH PLAY MANY TIMES AND IN PREMIER LEAGUE THIS DONT WORK ..... BUT IS GOOD IF WILL BE LIKE THIS 1 - GIVEN 2-TOURE ,LESCOTT 3-MICON(ZABALETA OR RICHARDS) AND BRIDGE OR THE O.MARSEILLE BOY IS GOOD IF WE GET HIM Taye Taiwo 4- BURRY ,IRELAND 6 ROBINHO TEVEZ 7- ETOO AND CRUZ THIS MY DREAM TEAM FOR M.C I HOPE IT LL BE SORRY FOR THE DEASASTER ENGLISH I STUDY JUST 1 YEAR

So.....bellamy, santa cruz, benjani, tevez, eto'o? Tevez decided not to fight for a place in the BEST team in the land but rather the 4th best team in Manchester?? Yea....that makes sense!

Oh dear, FU. City obsession now bordering on panic. Even the usual smug rag arrogance seems hollow now. Time to start looking at the mess the Glazer's club is in as the trouble seeps into the squad. A massive gap now exists over where the rags goals are going to come from. The Barcelona humiliation was just the start.

If Eto'o does come to Manchester City then the silverware is on its way. He is a supreme goalscorer and the team he plays for wins the trophies. Will he do well in the Premiership? Of course he will. Will he take time to adjust, absolutely... Probably the first 45 minutes.
Sindbad
Panic? panic!? We could not win a trophy for the next 50 years and you still won't catch up to us! Panic? And we found the goals when RVN left, we will find it again no worries! This is a top four team someone said right? Well....roll on the next season!
ForeverUnited
ForeverUnited just one thing to say- i dony even think your still gonna be around in 50 years the way your lot are going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr Laporta is great at letting cats out of the bag isn't he? The only thing is that he will only do what is right for Barcelona. He'll hold on to Eto'o until he has got David Villa in the bag. All he's doing with this pronouncement is putting pressure on our man in the Cameroon
