Vassell Mobbed In Turkey *Video*

It has been widely reported that Manchester City and Turkish club Ankaragucu have reached an agreement over 29-year-old Darius Vassell.

Cengiz Topel Yildirim, the Turkish club`s chairman declared: 'We aim to secure a big signing as this year is our centenary. He will visit the city and our installations. Then he will make a decision.

'I hope we can include him in our squad.'

The out-of-contract striker was completely overwhelmed in the Turkish capital by a 3,000 strong crowd of Ankaragucu fans who had turned up at the airport to see the former Manchester City man.

He was greeted by pretty girls with 'Vassell' on the back of their shirts, presented with flowers and had a dozen scarves wrapped round his neck as he was paraded through the excited crowd.

To say the ex-England player looked shocked was an understatement as the vivacious crowd chanted out his name, holding home-made banners and lighting flares.

One placard read: 'You are more than a player, we are more than a club - welcome to Ankaragucu.`

After making his way through the crowd, it was reported that around 50 buses and 250 cars of well wishers followed Vassell from the airport to hotel.

If this deal goes through, Vassell will have a lot to live up to.

Good-luck Darius, we wish you well in pastures new.

They are behind the times, but at least it shows they read Vital Man City to get their stories!

He looks scared, perhaps he exaggerated a bit on his CV and they are expecting a goal machine.
