Stubborn Sturridge Cements Chelsea Contract

Budding blogger, Blue Lad Scragg sent us the following...

Chelsea has confirmed the signing of teenage striker Daniel Sturridge on a four-year contract after turning down a take it or leave it Manchester City 55,000 a week offer.

As the youngster is under the age of 24 City are entitled to compensation with the fee being decided by a tribunal. Reports suggest Chelsea may have to pay up to 10m.

Youth Academy graduate was made a laughing stock by City fans when reports surfaced that he was demanding a ridiculous 75,000 a week. When regular player Elano earns a mere 35,000 I personally say good riddance to the money driven fool. It's such a shame though as he was showing so much promise, but if he wants to leave and sit on a Stamford Bridge bench, then good luck and enjoy.

Sturridge made his full debut for City in 2007 against Reading scoring six times in 32 appearances.

Rank bad advice. "Splinters" Sturridge is going to need some cushions. Meanwhile, there is no way in this world or the next that Ancelotti has ever heard of Sturridge until now. Which begs the question, whose been running Chelsea's transfer policy throughout the past three managers? Has to be Weasel K.

Hmm, I don't call playing well against Stoke good promise, no better than Ched Evans.

Chelsea will be re-naming their bench, the 'sturridge' by the end of next season.

How much are Chelsea even paying him is the question. It must be around the 60k + a week mark. A fair bit for an injury prone unproven striker who couldn't even get into our team.

When his serious thigh injury had sidelined him for many months there was a lot of talk that City might have to give up on Sturridge, but there was tremendous support from the fans and throughout the club that meant his painstaking treatment would continue without the fear of being jettisoned. Talk about Stand By Me.

There is no way in the world the tribunal will put a price of 10m on sturridge.

I still find it unbelievable that a young man who has just 6 goals to his name from senior games should refuse an offer of 55,000 a week from the Club which has nurtured him. I hope Daniel and his advisors know what they are doing.

He does make a point thought. To say "I personally say good riddance to the money driven fool". Yet be happy to lure big players with 200-300k wages is hypocritical.

paul_ownz- big players receive big wages because they have proved their worth at the highest level. Sturridge has not yet done that, so there is absolutley not a chance in hell he deserves 55k per week, let alone whatever Chelsea are paying him. So where is the hypocrisy you are talking about?

Saying good riddance to one money driven fool, yet opening your arms to another money driven fool is hypocritical isnt it? If Terry leaves his beloved Chelsea who have a great chance of winning any of the trophies they are in. it would only be for money. No footballer can deserve 250k+ a week.

Its a real shame as he had potential and it could have been better realized at City. Instead he will go to Chelsea and be a Berti on the bench there. Very bad move that he will regret in a few months time.
