Rival Fans Have The Audacity To Attack Man City

Rival Fans Have The Audacity To Attack Man City

The following article is not meant to be perceived as a whinge, not even a moan, but reality.

If anyone has been luckily enough to acquire a substantial amount of money, whether that is by winning the Lotto, or the Pools, perhaps you've inherited a few quid from a deceased, or you have built up a successful business, there will always be folk out there who look at you with envy, jealousy or even with contempt.

Prior to Manchester City's takeover, Chelsea were the ones directly in the firing line. Why, well a certain Mr Roman Abramovich entered the ring and in doing so he brought with him his Russian billions. The club purchased world class players and in doing so, offered them astronomical wages. Needless to say the Stamford Bridge lot attracted some of the finest players in the world.

New Kid On The Block - Manchester City FC

I don't need to remind a single reader about our new found wealth, hence the reason why I can move swiftly on.

MCFC are on the verge of something special, however that comes at a price. Rival clubs and for that matter, their respective fan base are bored with attacking Chelsea and have turned their attention to Man City. Why, well it might have something to do with what I mentioned earlier - envy, jealousy or perhaps, contempt.

Media celebrities, not necessarily linked to football, and even the national press are beginning to attack the very fabric of what we Citizens believe in. Yes, our club. The sarcastic comments, the odd dig in the ribs - I can quite easily quote headlines - comments, but do I really have to? No I thought not - we've all seen them.

Now What?

When under attack, one generally backs off, assesses the situation before the counter attack. In this scenario we Blues have to rely on Mark Hughes and his players to do this on our behalf. The forthcoming season is going to be critical. We don't have to win trophies but we HAVE to finish in the top six at least. My own personal opinion is that Arsenal are there for the taking and a top four and a Champions League place is being realistic and not fanciful.

The club are doing their up most by attempting to purchase the very best on the planet - Carlos Tevez, Samuel Eto'o, John Terry and last January we even tried a cheeky £100m Kaka bid. There is more to come.

When anyone is a tight corner, unable to move left or right there are only two ways to go. Yup, you've guessed it, retreat or move forward.

On a personal note, I refuse to be bullied or ridiculed. I will of course accept criticism, but it has to be justified, if not I like many if us worth our salt will go and fight our corner. I urge every Blue to usher restraint but if we continue to receive unnecessary and blatant scandalously headlines, can I suggest we group as one unit and attack on all fronts.

The City of Manchester Stadium season tickets for 2009/10 has broken all previous records. We Blues think, no, believe we are going to achieve something very special this season. I truly hope and hand on heart believe we are on the verge of something truly revolutionary. We are Manchester City.

Every football fan will have their own view, however if you have something constructive to say, click here, register and lets here it.

Why would anyone be jealous of MCFC you've got millions and have attracted just one world class player while numerous more have turned you down why would anyone be jealous of that? Digs from the national press I've not seen any. Forget the players and management having egos just look at the bloody fans!

I'm just glad you've deflected some of the crap we get, but nobody seems to ever question how much money Fergie or Benitez spend do they?

Not just fans, Skysports too. I was very unhappy with the Skysports report on Terry this morning, they even had Dr Al-Fahim as our owner. Anyway, I was seething, and sent a very strongly worded mail to the editor of Skysports and then followed it up with a phone call. I blasted them for their disrespect in not getting our owner correct and then went on about their other recent misdemeanours which included asking the FIFA/UEFA delegate if City were ruining football with our spending and not mentioning Real Madrid, the treachery of it...! Anyway, to cut a long moan short I pointed out to them the benefit of City signing world class talent to the good of the EPL, their viewing figures and advertisement revenue. Point being, they changed the report the next time they aired it! Who says the viewer has no power!

This sounds very much like a rallying cry, Tudor. That's exactly what we need. Restraint is all very well, but these people aren't critics -- they aren't giving a reasoned criticism. They are just knockers who want to harm Manchester City. I say we proactively expose them as such -- particularly the ones who are so obviously just jumping on a bandwagon for the purposes of personal promotion. Can they show that they have a record over many years of criticising Real Madrid AC Milan, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool of "attempting to buy success?" If they haven't, what makes them think they can single out Manchester City?
05/07/2009 16:26:00
Because one of the top four fears that they may lose that spot and in doing so, could face a lot of financial problems, the fans fear that aswell and because of the attacks, it means that we are making waves and if we are doing that then we become a threat and the threat has gone from nobody will sign no matter how much money you have to you're just buying success. Well T I'm with you.

NDH plc....our fans have always been level headed and we have had the ability to laugh at ourselves for god knows how many years now. its just great for us to have our time in the sunshine and as we always do which is stick together so we dont care what jealous fans think because this time the "TYPICAL CITY" tag has been put in the bottom draw.

As a non-City I have ALWAYS stuck up for you millions or no millions because you are real fans unlike the likes of .. well you know who.. I'm not convinced you are knoked by other fans as much as you think you are but those that do knock are indeed 'jealous'. Show me a football fan who wouldn't want THEIR club to be chosen and have invested millions in it and I show you a LIAR !. As for the media well just try as hard as you can to hit back. We (Pompey) have a 'Kick the Sun out' campaign going on as they are single handedly trying to put prospective buyers (Dr SAF included) off of buying the club by reeling out lie after lie after lie. Stand tall, stand proud and stand together - DO not put up with it - Man City Fans ARE respected by other 'True' football fans.. DOn't take the ********* that is being thrown at you.. On the ball City ;)

Jeez .. I've just re-read that .. Can I apply for Hughes' job if he gets sacked .. only joking there's a vacant one a Pompey ;)
