City Sign Tevez

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Carlos Tevez on a five-year contract.

Mark Hughes stated: 'It is terrific news, Carlos is an international player of the highest class who possesses all the attributes that will help drive this club forward.

'He is not only outstanding technically, but he is a reliable goalscorer and someone who will contribute fully to the team ethic. He gives us another exciting, attacking dimension.

'I cannot wait to welcome him to City. This is yet another deal that shows the commitment of the owner Sheikh Mansour to make this club the very best it can possibly be. I am sure our fans will give Carlos an exceptionally warm welcome.'

The 25-year-old Argentinian striker left United after becoming disillusioned with a number of Alex Ferguson's decisions, including the signing of Dimitar Berbatov which consigned him to the bench on a number of occasions.

Tevez will wear the number 32 shirt for Manchester City.

This signing will be one of our best ever, i am moist!
I can't wait either, but I'm not going to wish time away. Brilliant! Buying the forwards to attract the backs...

Great player but goal-wise Owen is a step up as funny as that might sound. In a great team Owen will flourish but all Tevez will do is run around like a headless chicken. That can be great but sometimes all you want is that goal!
Bollox, FU. Absolute bollox. Which ever way the rags dress this and Ladyboy Riverdancer's departure up they are hammer blows. Yes it does sound funny that a creaking Owen with 70+ league run outs in four years is a step up. Hilarious in fact. Taggart desperately phone Tevez through June. The rags outdone by liddle ciddy in the transfer market again, just as they were when our leaders forced the Glazer's to pay way over the odds for the soon to be departed Berbatov. Like we told you in May, the Barca humiliation was just the start of the slide. Rags for sale this autumn.

Good move

JB - You didnt read my post very well did you? If Owen and Tevez play the SAME amount of games, Owen WILL score more goals than Tevez. That was the point I'm making. Not saying Owen is a better player but he's still a better goalscorer than Tevez! Soon to be departed Berbatov? Stop reading the Mirror! Outdone by sh1 tty in the transfer market again!? He's only going to your sorry club because his family is settled in Manchester! And when was the other time you outdid us in the transfer market??
Haha start of a slide? We can not win a trophy for the next 50 years and we'd still be more successful than you! Talk to me next time you're EVEN playing the CL qualifiers!
How does it go? "Argentina, Argentina?!"
Johnny Baguette
Nice one JB. I think Tevez will be a foil for RSC or Robinho, he not there as a main stiker but will create a lot of gaol and cause havoc with defenses not just having to stop Robinho from playing we now have a more potent strike force. You alway know you have signed someone good when the oppostion start to post comments.
Buzz Lightyear
FU, funny that given your manager wanted to lash 25M on Tevez and only went for Owen when Tevez and Benzema turned him down

hope the lad does well for you - a class player!
ForeverU****d. Remember this........ SIGN HIM UP, SIGN HIM UP, SIGN HIM UP. No? You and your kind are pathetic! We've got someone you desperately wanted, my red mates are should have the decency to follow their lead...but you've not got the class.
5 times - If any of those players were our number priority we would've moved faster for them. We weren't sure of a 35 mil supersub and we only ASKED about Benzema. Its not like we sent in an offer, he looked at it and he said no! Don't fall for this media nonsense and speculation!
RG - I should have the decency to be gutted over losing Tevez? Why?? He's not the best player to have ever played for us! Not even in the top 50 so why should I be gutted. I have no ill-feelings towards him, I wish him well and have no reason to be gutted!
Super TEV NO 32!
there are cracks in the dam. Your postings reflect that. All empires crumble and yours is about to. Just wait and see.
Just get JT,ADE and LES now and we'll be top four CTID!...
Forever United about to become Forever deflated
FU, thousands of your kind disagree, they were in fine voice when trying to embarass Ferguson with their chants of support for him....obviously you took them to task for it. Your childish and ill-advised forays onto this board tonight smack of face saving desperation and you're not even very good at it.
Tevez is a fantastic signing for City. His work rate and goals will be crucial in breaking down resolute defenses.
Well done city, hes a great signing for you, i hope he does well for you.
RG - Face saving desperation!? I was never one of those singing for SAF to keep Tevez so I speak for myself not all United fans! So I think you'd be better off speaking to those other thousands. I follow the club not a player!
Holy crap! 22 posts already? (Did I mention I was happy?)
It's a terrific signing for you lads. He's a top-class striker, and I have to admit that I was still keeping my fingers crossed that we (Chelsea) would nab him off you right at the death. Alas, it was not to be. I agree with Buzz Lightyear - I think he'll complement Robinho and Santa Cruz nicely. It's a big signing, that really signals your intentions for the coming season to the rest of the league. I can really emphathise with your excitement and anticipation too, having been in a very similar situation this time six years ago. Good luck for the new season!
FU..Benzema went on record saying he turned you down....More than just asking!

LOL at ForeverUnited. Im sure you were begging bacon-face to sign Owen after you found out Tevez was leaving!!! OWEN!!! HAHAHAHA
When was the other time you outdid us in the transfer market?? Wasn't that on 13th July 2009?
Thanks pompeyfcmad. Owen hasnt played a decent game in four years. Infact he is never fit to play and when he does hes been poor. Owen is spent force, game play is limited, and he wont play more than 10 games for united. Hes always one tackle away from a serious injury... on a good note - WELCOME TO EASTLANDS TEVEZ!!!! THANK YOU SHEIKH MONSOUR! tevez is destined to be a city legend. He will thrive at city, having the team built around him and playing regulary.
enzo city
God why do most articles result in an argument. Fair enough FU Owen scores more than Tevez, when fit. But Tevez does more for the team, fantastic signing.
Absolutely delighted. Well done City, Mark Hughes, Garry Cook and all those involved. I applaud you.
I'm not gonna say carlos tevez is a bad player and I'm not going to speculate over the legitimacy of Fergies attempts to "sign him up" but I will say if he shows the form for man city that he did for utd last year - you guys will take a very different view of ForeverUniteds comments at the end of next season.
We shall see tuscan. Tevez is is very similar to Bellamy and will suit our style of play- particularly at home. In away games his energy will be invaluable and if he is struggling up front, Santa Cruz can come on and nod one in off a late corner ;)
nice words daspecial1. Respect.
we all know why ....all of a sudden city are the team to be , no europe just like us an all of a sudden there top dogs WE ALL NO THE PLAYERS THEY SIGN IS FOR THE MONEY NOT THE CLUB NOT THE CHANCE OF SUCCESS, barry cruz an now tevez, no doubt very good players but money talks = bank balence, it all about the money, id prefer own to be honest
he went for the money simple as, end of who's next
You can certainly speak from experience at Spurs, 123.
Johnny Baguette
Forever United, you sound really down to me. Don't worry, Michael Owen Hargreaves is not injury prone and will play many, many CL qualifiers for you in the near, mid and distant future.
Juan Sebastion Veron and on and on.....
Johnny Baguette
