City Sign Tevez

City Sign Tevez

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Carlos Tevez on a five-year contract.

Mark Hughes stated: 'It is terrific news, Carlos is an international player of the highest class who possesses all the attributes that will help drive this club forward.

'He is not only outstanding technically, but he is a reliable goalscorer and someone who will contribute fully to the team ethic. He gives us another exciting, attacking dimension.

'I cannot wait to welcome him to City. This is yet another deal that shows the commitment of the owner Sheikh Mansour to make this club the very best it can possibly be. I am sure our fans will give Carlos an exceptionally warm welcome.'

The 25-year-old Argentinian striker left United after becoming disillusioned with a number of Alex Ferguson's decisions, including the signing of Dimitar Berbatov which consigned him to the bench on a number of occasions.

Tevez will wear the number 32 shirt for Manchester City.

More to follow.

I can't wait either, but I'm not going to wish time away. Brilliant! Buying the forwards to attract the backs...

Great player but goal-wise Owen is a step up as funny as that might sound. In a great team Owen will flourish but all Tevez will do is run around like a headless chicken. That can be great but sometimes all you want is that goal!

Bollox, FU. Absolute bollox. Which ever way the rags dress this and Ladyboy Riverdancer's departure up they are hammer blows. Yes it does sound funny that a creaking Owen with 70+ league run outs in four years is a step up. Hilarious in fact. Taggart desperately phone Tevez through June. The rags outdone by liddle ciddy in the transfer market again, just as they were when our leaders forced the Glazer's to pay way over the odds for the soon to be departed Berbatov. Like we told you in May, the Barca humiliation was just the start of the slide. Rags for sale this autumn.

JB - You didnt read my post very well did you? If Owen and Tevez play the SAME amount of games, Owen WILL score more goals than Tevez. That was the point I'm making. Not saying Owen is a better player but he's still a better goalscorer than Tevez! Soon to be departed Berbatov? Stop reading the Mirror! Outdone by sh1 tty in the transfer market again!? He's only going to your sorry club because his family is settled in Manchester! And when was the other time you outdid us in the transfer market??

Haha start of a slide? We can not win a trophy for the next 50 years and we'd still be more successful than you! Talk to me next time you're EVEN playing the CL qualifiers!

Nice one JB. I think Tevez will be a foil for RSC or Robinho, he not there as a main stiker but will create a lot of gaol and cause havoc with defenses not just having to stop Robinho from playing we now have a more potent strike force. You alway know you have signed someone good when the oppostion start to post comments.

FU, funny that given your manager wanted to lash 25M on Tevez and only went for Owen when Tevez and Benzema turned him down
