Arsenal Striker Granted Work Permit

Emmanuel Adebayor's transfer to Manchester City is imminent with the Togolese striker being granted a work permit after a hearing in Manchester yesterday.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has not yet commented on the future of the £25m target-man, although a deal is expected to go through before City head out to South Africa to take part in the Vodacom Challenge.

Oh no! It's that word imminent again :)

Another three week wait then OB!

The cat's out of the bag 8th. Ok, oliver. The site is to be named "Imminent Manchester City."

Too many negatives come with Adebayor, I hope Hughes knows what he is doing. This will be the third striker he has bought this summer and we are hanging onto the hope that terry will sign, but I am not convinced on that one. We do have strikers already at the club, what we do need is to strengthen the backs.
Buzz Lightyear
Think City will give Terry 24/48 hours to make his mind up and if it doesn't happen then they will move on. Lescott and Alves are probably more realistic targets anyway. Nice to watch Chelsea squirm though.
jackblue
I like that your poll has Adebayor as favorite to finish as top scorer for City next season ..... above players who actually play for you ... lol
Rocky7
Defence must be the priority for City. If Terry is going to commit, then fine. But whatever happens, City need two extra centre backs, in the squad -- particularly one who can also cover left as back-up for Bridge. Without Terry, Lescott and either Upson or Hangeland would do it for a Top 4 finish next season.
Sindbad
Don't you lot got like 10 strikers now? Why need for another one?
emigre
You actually think that your team could finish top four? Honestly lads, none of your players would get into our first 11 (maybe a few would challenge or are on par, but that is it) to get into the top four, Barry, Tevez, Santa Cruz and Adebayor cannot be the first names on the teamsheet.
Tom14
Tom14, do yu actually know anything about football, or is your mum still reading you bedtime stories. I won't ask you if you are under a doctor, I just assume you are.
Buzz Lightyear
Buzz I don't think there's anything wrong with that comment from Tom. I'd echo those sentiments. Not in a malicious way, you could make the top four in a few years to come, but if you set yourself that target for this season then your setting yourselves up for dissapointment. It's not going to be impossible - Villa came close with a team who, on paper, were less impressive than yours, but some of your supporters are clearly deluded. I've seen a few City supporters who expect to be genuine title challengers this year.
ArsenalRob
I'm sure that Arsenal were after Barry, when Liverpool were making their bid, was it that Barry turned that down because it was to sit on your berti? No of course not. Also you are saying that an Argentine international, who is picked for his country evry time would not get into Arsenals first team? Did not Whinger make an enquiry for Richards? Arsenal Rob, I too do not expect a top 4 finish, because we are nowhere near closing the gap bewteen the top four and the next six clubs, but we will finish better than last season and once again I will say that City are beiginning to worry other clubs when their fans start to comment on our web page.(Barry, Tevez, Santa Cruz and Adebayor cannot be the first names on the teamsheet.Tom14)Why?
Buzz Lightyear
Buzz that comment was saying that you would need to have Eto'o, Terry Essien and Fabregas quality players, nit the ones you have signed. And the only player who would challenge for a place in our team is Barry, but Denilson was fantastic last season. Tevez above van Persie? I think not. Richards above Gallas or Sagna? Not likely mate.
Tom14
Tom we shall agree to differ on this point. Tevez is world class, van Persie a tad injury prone for me, but both different types of players.
Buzz Lightyear
Tevez is far from world class.
