Nou Camp Test For City

Manchester City have officially confirmed that they will participate in the 44th Joan Gamper Trophy against Barcelona on Wednesday, 19th August at the Nou Camp.

Mark Hughes' side were previously scheduled to play Everton in the Premier League, but an Europa League qualifying match has meant that the fixture has been rearranged.

City played in the prestigious tournament back in 1982 where they lost in the final to Porto Alegre, however, Barcelona was not a participant.

Against Barcelona, one of City's most memorable of their five previous friendlies, was the 2-1 win in the first game held at the City of Manchester Stadium in 2003- Nicolas Anelka and Trevor Sinclair the goal scorers.

The Catalan giants will provide a tough test for City's new-look squad; in May, Barcelona beat Manchester United 2-0 to win the Champions League final.

Shows city have great relations with barca since their meeting on the eve of the champions league semi final. It speaks volumes for citys board, management and administration to organise a top class friendly in such a short notice of time.

Here here, I think Gary Cook is adding a bit of class, diplomacy and commercial nous to the City positioning. This is a great coup and rthe photos with Nelson Mandela ... pure class.
