Caicedo In Sporting Move

Ecuadorian international Filipe Caicedo is reported to be on his way to Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan after an agreement was met between Manchester City and the Portuguese club.

Sporting's official website announced: 'Sporting Clube de Portugal hereby announces that a pre-agreement has been reached with Manchester City Football Club for the loan of the player Felipe Caicedo for one season.

'The definitive agreement depends on the undertaking of medical tests.'

Speaking to skysports.com, the powerful striker stated: 'My objective is to play and to demonstrate that I can triumph in Europe.

'City have many forwards who have arrived this summer and they have complicated my presence.

'But to be with a club like Sporting Lisbon is a personal challenge to me.'

Caicedo finished last season with seven goals from just 14 starts and eleven substitute appearances in all competitions.

First Evans, now Caicedo. Two fewer strikers on the books!

Hope the lad does well.

I think we all knew that Felipe, tried his best at City and although he led the attack in the latter half of the season and was improving it was obvious that he was going to struggle in the Premier. I think in Portugal they will be a little slower and give him more room to show that he can play in a top league, just not in England

We now have less strikers than last season eightsin but nobody mentions that.

Good move but I doubt he will be back as he just is too slow and can't hold the ball up sufficiently. Still best of luck to him .... only Banjani and Etuhu left and we have completed the full sweep of the predicted cull .... with possibly Elano to add.

I have the feeling manchester city will struggle even more after buying all this quality strikers.. Caicedo is a great player and for his height and weight has very decent speed plus wasnt he the striker that scored the most after robinho also had to be the one with the best goal average after all 11 sub apperances and 3 starting apperances 7 goals is great Man City just lost one of the future best fowards worldwide. Welcome to Sporting!!!

Filipe , good luck , do some speed work to match with your power and come back a better player.

Interesting to see what a full season playing will have on his development. Still on the fence about this lad.

Good luck Phil I always thought the lad had potential but just not EPL to lumbering and his sense of position left a lot to be desired.
