Front Runners For Hamann Include Preston & QPR

Defensive midfielder Didi Hamann could be on the verge of resurrecting his career with either Preston North End or Queens Park Rangers.

The 35-year-old Manchester City player left Eastlands at the end of last season after the club refused to offer the former German international a new contract. Now it appears Championship sides Preston and QPR are on the verge of offering Hamann a lifeline with a one-year contract.

The former Liverpool employee said he believes he has a couple of years left in the professional game before he contemplates a role in coaching.

You heard it from me first. Did will be Notts County's first signing. His contract will be as a player coach and will represent Sven's marquee signing.

Well, if he goes to QPR, they certainly have the money to pay any wages he might ask for (see: gambling and knowing when to stop). But he was a class player for us on many occasions, just as MH said, because he had a good 'footballing head'. Good luck to you Didi, hope you do well.

What a fantastic picture that is of Didi by the way... it makes him look like he's 65 instead of only 35.

I think Hamann would be wasted at Preston. I'd be surprised if he didn't do a swansong back home in Germany. But if he was to stay in the UK he could potentially do a couple of seasons at somewhere like QPR. He'd earn good money and they would take full advantage of his fantastic experience as they continue to build their side.
