Ashley Cole Hopes City Push Arsenal Out Of Top 4

Ashley Cole Hopes City Push Arsenal Out Of Top 4

Chelsea and England full back, Ashley Cole hopes Manchester City will push his former club Arsenal out of the Premier League's top 4.

Cole (28) says City have bought enough quality to challenge for a Champions League place.

'I have friends at City and I hope they do really well,' Cole told the press.

'I really hope they finish above Arsenal - I think it's going to be hard for City but they could do it. They may click straight away and it's magic. I hope they do.'

Vital Man City says...

'My admiration for Ashley has just shot up tenfold. What a bloke!'

Well a good start would be too get JT and cause all sorts of problems in the Chelsea camp. I think what Cole is getting at, is that he really reckons we are going to get into the top four this coming season, and because of that, his particular victim of choice is Arsenal, and he's apparently be quite happy with that. Now I should hop on over to VitalArsenal and see what they make of this...

Coming from a Chelsea fan I too think that Man City will push Arsenal out of the top four. I mean look at it, Arsenal were struggling to hold their place agains Everton and Aston Villa. If they struggled against them imagine the noise Man City will make. I mean the defense may not be up to part yet (u wont get Terry). But I think you guys have the top SET of four strikers in the league. Adebayor, Cruz, Bellamy, Tevez with Robinho on the left. SWP on the right and Barry and Ireland in the middle. Hey im no manchester city fans but I will be watching the games (especially the attacking third).

How nice to see supporters of the two sugardaddy teams wiping each others bottoms! Arsenal will finish above both the nouveau riche sky blues and the geriatric dark blues- but Cole seems like a perfect match for Man City!

are we a little upset elbondo? Still reeling at losing Ashley Cole to the number one team in London, still hurting that you got a dud in William Gallas? City will have you this season and I for one can't wait to see it, you gooners have had enough luck sneaking 4th over the seasons, its about time you dd the proper thing and ****ed off

In fairness, Cole did actually say "only joking" after that comment. I don't think City have bought good enough players to yet mount a serious challenge for the top four. I think 2010/11 might be more their year to push for the CL, once a better manager than Hughes is in place. For now, Barry, Adebayor, Santa Cruz and Tevez (5 goals last season at United) are solid signings, but still not an improvement on what the rest of the top 4 currently has. Ostensibly, all of the aforementioned were not considered decent enough for any of the top 4 to pay big money for. But it is inevitable that City will begin to really threaten at some stage.
