John Terry Issues Official Statement

Manchester City target, John Terry has issued a statement via the official Chelsea website.

'There has been a lot of speculation recently about my future and I want to clear this up once and for all. I am totally committed to Chelsea and always have been. Chelsea have also made it clear to me consistently that there was never any intention to accept any kind of offer.'

The Chelsea and England Captain continues...

'When you are linked with any club, or with a manager who I have huge respect for, it will always make headlines but me leaving Chelsea was never a possibility.'

'I know there has been comment that I should have made a statement earlier. However, throughout this period there have been numerous discussions between myself, the owner and the Chelsea Board and we all agreed that the timing of any statement would suit everyone involved in those talks, not any outside influences or agendas.'

Lescott would be a more likely target than Terry. You might try for Kolo Toure too.

An interesting statement for it's lack of real passion and vehamance. I would be a teeny weeny bit worried about it If I were a Chelsea fan as it doesn't portay ant real believe or fight. Maybe it's not all over yet and when he comes back to the UK he will do a complete u-turn.

wswilly3 - I'm not sure how much of John Terry you're familiar with, but questioning his belief and fight is a little bit ridiculous. The statement has been a long time coming, admittedly, for whatever reasons the player or the club have had, but now that JT has come out and made the situation clear, I think we can all move on with preparing for the new campaign. Like I've said throughout this sorry saga, I still hope you lads do well next season and disturb the dynamics and cartel of the Top Four, although obviously not at our expense. Good luck for the new campaign!

John Terry is Mr Chelsea and the majority of City fans did not expect Terry would take that step away from the Bridge. I do think his delay in releasing a statement which he could have done weeks ago has tarnished his relationship somewhat with the Chelsea faithful. We (City) should now move out little club on to bigger fish to catch in our pursuit of ruining football.

wswilly3- unsure if english is your first language though you didnt make any spelling mistakes in your comments above,if english IS indeed your 1st language then what part of i was never going to leave chelsea didnt you fully comprehend. Few players stay at one club for life, Maldini, Totti , Tony Adams,Raul these players are NOT mercanries only in it for the money, i wish Man City well for the upcoming season and think Hughes has got a great idea to try and buy proven top premiership players from all the top clubs, well done for Barry and Tevez and also like ashley cole i hope you finnish above arsenal

The end result of the Mr Chelsea transfer saga? He walks away with a much healthier bank balance. Hope the chavs will not feel cheated by the way he has played their club to extract more cash though. Time to move on.

In 2-3years I can see it happening but there was NEVER a chance JT would move to a side not playing in Europe. He's the England captain so simply coundn't justify it and all the money in the world would make little difference to someone who is already a multi-millionaire several times over. Like I say, for one final big contract yes - but he has 2-3 years at the top level ahead of him yet and Man City simply aren't in that league yet.

Hey you Chelsea fans, I have it on very good authority that he is waiting for the right moment and is then going tio change his mind and join Man City. He wants to do it at the time to make the maximum impact. You heard it first on Vital Manchester City and not Vital Chelsea ... keep tuned in you dark blues.

Bloody hell, I hope not! Mr Chelsea can carry on his slow decline at Chelsea where the fans will be much more sympathetic to him after all he has done for them. The site of an ageing Terry getting turned inside out by pacey young strikers would not do City or JT any good, especially with the fee and wages that were being mooted. His staying is probably for the best, although it would have made a statement to the entire footballing world had he decided to come to us.
