Kolo Touré Drops Arsenal For Manchester City

Ivory Coast international and Arsenal defender, Kolo Touré is scheduled to leave Arsenal's training camp in Austria this evening to fly back to England to complete his move to Manchester City after the two clubs agreed a fee of £14m.

The 28-year-old is expected to cash in on a lucrative deal by virtually doubling his weekly wage to a mere £100,000 a week.

Touré joined Arsenal in February 2002 from ASEC Mimosas for £150,000 and ever since his move the six foot defender became a bedrock in the Gunners defence.

Welcome to the revolution Touré.

I've seen him having inspired games. I think that he's very good going forward but might not be as good against the better teams or against teams like Stoke, when there might be a lot of long ball stuff. I've always thought of him as a good defender, but I do think we need another stopper. Why don't we buy Gallas as well?!! Light the blue touch paper... Yes, Lescott would be good, but I think that Nedum is heading for that. Pun intended. Possible future captain as well.

Welcome aboard Kolo.

arsenal fans shouldn't think they'll get to spend of all it, they do have to pay of that ludicrously expensive stadium still

I'll miss having Kolo around, but it's the right move for us. His performances had been declining for a couple of years, he wouldn't have been a regular starter, and £14-16 million is a great deal. As much as I admire his fighting qualities, he's not the kind of defender that can lead a whole unit. He'll need a strong, calm partner.

I'll miss him, and he will always be remembered and loved as one of ' The Invincibles '. However, for a guy with his number of appearances, and all the experience it brings, he still needs to be ' talked ' through the game by his centre half partner, which shouldn't be the case. Anyway, and whatever happens, all the best Kolo and thanks for everything.
