Sky Sports News suggest Manchester City are going to make Everton an improved offer for their defender, Joleon Lescott.
The last bid of £15 million was turned down by the Everton board but would they be in a position to turn their noses up at a cheeky £20m offer?
Here is what a few City fans think...
oliverblue - I think that one of the benefits of bringing Lescott in is that he is left footed, and can fill in at LB should the need arise. Whether MH deems it fit to bring in another LB, I'm not too sure.
steee - Kompany is better than Lescott and hope we don't raise our offer of 15 mil because that would just be Everton taking the p***. If we don't get him, move on and get someone better.
Paul City Mad Fenton - I like him, granted he is no silky defender but he is an old skool cb with bags of pace, scores vital headed goals (something we did not do enough of) and more to the point a left footer.
We were undone too many times last year in the channel between LB and LCB due to the fact that our left sided cb was a right footer. I think allowing Dunny to play right sided cb worst case scenario will actually see him back to his best as he will be confident with a left footer next to him like when Distin was at the club.
I would of course like to see 2 centre backs join the revolution adding real competition for places, maybe Carvalho?? desperate to leave Chelsea and a better cb than Terry?
mcfctop4 - Lecott over bridge all day long mate.. I would hope Lescott being able to play straighter football would bring Robbie right into the picture again. Bridge can only cross and hence fed Bellamy and SWP all season on the right.. We need that link to LW/LF to bring any of these quality strikers into the game.. We know we have the right and midfield stitched up with SI/Barry/SWP/Tevez/Elano etc its just the back corners and the link to the left that we need to prevail in, Maicon can cross like a demon so Robbie would get fed from there but if Lescott plays straighter as well it`ll be open season on opposition defenders...
Its just a shame i would have liked to see Glen Johnson come to us as well, having him able to drop it onto the noses of Ade and RSC would be a right touch as well..
