VMC Tests Out New MCFC Official Match Day Centre

Manchester City's Media Team called in Vital MC to test out the club's state of the art Match Day Centre for the Celtic friendly. It'll be going live for the Blackburn opener...

The Match Day centre fits seamlessly into the clubs dynamic new €2.3 million official website.

In an interactive press box link up, Johnny Baguette linked up remotely from the continent with the club's communication's team giving feedback as the game developed and the new free service followed the action.

JB takes up the story:

'The stumbling pain in the arse that was MCFCTV.COM is now a distant memory. The Match Day Centre is certainly a stylish job, comprising six main elements and other bonuses. Firstly, 'Live (text) commentary' There's a club media man, Peter, pitch side furiously typing away at what the story is. Thus, a Sporting Life style clockwatch runs along the left side of your screen.

'Click alongside that and you'll find Sparky's programme notes for the game. Move to the centre of the screen and you'll find the interactive team sheets and formations.

'Next up, ongoing match stats including current ball possession percentages. This runs side by side with the next feature. A brilliant 'Player Stats' 'Head to Head' facility, whereby you can select individual players from either side and check out their performance. Robinho v Georgios Samaras made for interesting reading.

'At the right of the Match Day Centre comes a belting feature. Photos from in and around the game are published in a half time gallery. I almost fell off my chair to see City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak and club CEO Garry Cook grinning and having a brew with the media snappers in Rosie's famous photographer's tea room!

'Top bonus you'll find is a link to Manchester Key 103 radio commentary which wasn't live for Celtic. The club's Twitter and Facebook links are also in the mix.

'Plans are also in the pipeline at a future stage to provide an ongoing 'scores elsewhere' section. That would see off the need to open another window on Match Day.

'All in all, and er, 'at the end of the day' I absolutely recommend City's Match Day Centre to Planet Blue and especially our Vital MC massive who can run the Centre alongside our buzzing Match Day Thread in The Forums.'

So no HD quality 'live' feed of the games then? :-)

Sounds like great stuff and will be able to see how players performed statistically and see the progress we are making. At the end of the day, all you have is results, but at least this way we can see areas in which we need to improve- and indeed players.
eighthsin
will keep my eye on this while im watching the game.

It's "le chien's bollercks" as they say in la Republique.
Johnny Baguette
I just hope it won't be completely City biased and will actually objectively report the games
BlueWolfie
I'll give Paddy Crerand a ring then.

This looks brilliant. The continuously-developing website is another rung on the ladder to City success
Sindbad
Looks great. Can't wait to log on Saturday and give it a run.

Hopefully we will all be rowing in the same dirsction this year then, for thhose who can';t get to the match, following the match with the offical site while making comments in out match day thread. Should be interesting.

Planet Earth is Blue and there's nothing Taggart can do...
Johnny Baguette
Looks like it could be a useful tool to refer too whilst either watching the matches live on Sky, ESPN or through an online feed whilst posting on VMC as the action unfolds.
