Kasper Hooks Up With Sven

Manchester City have confirmed that Kasper Schmeichel, son of the legendary Peter Schmeichel has left the club to hook up with former City manager Sven Goran Eriksson at Notts County.

The 22-year-old Dane has reportedly signed a five-year contract with the Magpies in a deal which is believed to be in the region of a seven-figure sum, smashing the club's previous transfer record.

In City's 2007/08 campaign, Schmeichel recorded four clean sheets in seven appearances, although the emergence of Joe Hart and Shay Given had consigned the talented keeper to the reserves.

Notts County manager Ian McParland was delighted with the coup, stating to the Nottingham Evening Post: 'It is a great signing for the club, obviously. He is one for now and one for the future'.

Good luck Kasper.

A good move for Kasper, I'm sure. It will be exciting times in Nottingham with the Swede as Director of Football. You can't knock either of them for guts.

Good luck Kasper. You narked me with some of your media griping but in truth you never let us down.

Best of luck to him in the future but he was never going to cut it at this level at this stage of his career as he flaps at too many crosses. Still I'm surprised that he has had to drop down 3 divisions to resurrect his career, although he is at the only team in League 2 where things seem to be happening following an Arab takeover of their own.
