Sparky's 'Foreign Legion' Myth Exposed At Rovers

One glance at Saturday's team sheets utterly exposes the hack driven myth that Mark Hughes' side is merely a construction of foreign imports...

If anything, the side that professionally dealt with Blackburn look like one shrewdly put together to take on the Premier League and beyond.

Hughes' summer signings all have bags of Premier League experience and know how. Yet the most notable aspect of Saturday's team selection was the amount of British and Irish players in the starting XI. Clearly one of the City gaffer's plans is to improve the team's communication.

We very often get visitors to Vital MC forecasting City's downfall due to the amount of foreign mercenaries packing the side. The sports hack's are no exception to that way of thinking. Even Michel Platini has slagged The Blues along the same lines and continues to push for a ruling over foreign players.

Yet, today at Ewood Park City started the game with 5 Brits and 3 Irishmen.

Contrast that with Arsenal. Roundly praised for their youth policy and starting today's game at Everton with no British or Irish players at all. Big Four (Bore) colleagues Chelsea started at home to Hull with 3 Englishmen.

You won't find many hacks doffing their baseball caps to these facts in the Sunday papers.

City will certainly be well placed should Platini and Sepp Blatter force their plans past the G14 elite clubs.

City is the home team for the Premiership. If you want to watch France go look at Arsenal. Incidentally, Richard Dunne played GREAT today!

Well done today City! It's only the first step on our journey, but this is the kind of game we threw away last season. Top four? Time will tell!

Perhaps Wenger should go and manage back in France if he doesn't want to pick any English players - Where were super Walcott and Wilshere today? That said they were impressive in their 6-1 win at Everton and it'll be good to see Moyes squirm if he was interviewed after the match - though he may have done a Fergie and sent Irvine out to face the music.

Perhaps we should email your report to prattini so he can read it and digest it before we shove it up his rectum.
Buzz Lightyear
Yep you can say rectum.
Buzz Lightyear
Shoving something up Prattini's rectum would certainly shut him up, as that's the organ he chooses to speak from most of the time. Job done yesterday, Rovers gave us a stern test and we passed, although the defense certainly needs some attention. Toure looked class but he can't do it all on his own, and Dunne had a reasonable game, although I'd rather he was not a regular starter!

You talk about hack driven myths then some wally says "Perhaps Wenger should go and manage back in France if he doesn't want to pick any English players" Walcott was injured, Wilshere is a 17 year old from our youth team and Gibbs another youth team player was on the bench. We won 6-1 away and Wengers ethos is if your good enough then you play, its nothing to do with passports just quality.

And did you not replace 2 youth team players you developed in Sturridge and Hart with "foreigners"? Why not give Englands number 3 keeper a chance or pay Sturridge the same as Ade? because its about quality not nationality thats why.
iceman10
I don't deny what you say, Gooners. The fact is we have been slated for having a foreign legion. Why nobody else? Furthermore, not all of the 20-30 MCFC Academy lads who have broken through into our first team will consistently make the grade. Joe Hart is on loan at Birmingham, currently replaced by Stuart Taylor. Unsurprisingly, Daniel Sturridge who Ancelotti had nothing to do with's signing warmed the bench all afternoon for Chelski.
