'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ade Gunning For The Gooners And Beyond

On fire City centre forward Emmanuel Adebayor has been leading from the front with The Blues and the media this past 48 hours...

...and he's certainly winning many plaudits with his positive approach to his future with City. Talking to the Manchester Evening News, he again revealed how geared up he is for the challenges that lie ahead:

'This team can achieve things. At Blackburn we showed character and we showed personality. We showed on Saturday that in difficult moments we can fight together...'

It's clear however that the Togo goal getter has scores to settle with The Arsenal faithful:

'It was very difficult for me at Arsenal. When I got the ball and tried to score a goal, even at home, the fans were still booing. That is something you cannot imagine...the criticism I got at Arsenal was unfair...I don't know if they think I am a poor player, but the important thing for me was to change clubs. That is all behind me now - I achieved a lot of things there and my record is not bad at all.'

That's a score worth looking into next month when Arsenal come to town. Meanwhile, there's no doubting that Adebayor was impressed with City's berserking 8000+ following at Ewood Park:

'As a footballer, when you know that the club and the fans are behind you, it makes you want to give 100 per cent - and that is what happened on Saturday.'

Finally, a word for the man upstairs and a vow to keep on keeping on for the Blue cause:

'I am injury-free now, and I hope God will put his hand on me and keep me that way for the rest of the season. If that happens, I will keep working hard.'

Amen to that, Ade!

His finishing skills are great as he showed on Saturday and I think we'll see plenty more goals from the big man this season. I'd be worried if I was an Arsenal fan as it looks like Ade's got some unfinished business to take care of when we meet in a few weeks. Mark him down for one or two on that day.

Ade is not just about putting the ball into the back of the net, his play is far more intelligent with his backtracking and clever one-two interchanges. A huge advantage is that he can hold the ball up and allow the midfield to get into attacking positions. I think Ade will be fantastic this season and I hope he is shown the respect he deserves because at Arsenal he was hounded by fans week in week out- regardless of if he scored or not. City are better than that.

Arsenal fans: notice Ade put in a full 90 minutes, AND was even back helping defend on corners. 'Lazy' my backside...

He's looking like a good team player as well as a gifted striker. We could have a diamond here.

He certainly tried hard the other day and scored a decent goal - I hope that these are the signs of somebody that wants to win and not that he is trying to make an early impression before lowering his work rate. I see that 7 goals were scored from outside the box in this weeks round of Premier League matches and Sky Sports News selected the other 6 in their 6 of the best feature.
