Kelvin Etuhu Joins Bluebirds On Loan

Cardiff City have won the race to sign Manchester City academy graduate Kelvin Etuhu on a season-long loan.

The Bluebirds faced stiff competition in the form of Premier League outfits Wolves and Portsmouth for the 21-year-olds signature.

Cardiff manager Dave Jones said his sides latest capture: 'We are really pleased to get Kelvin, he's a Premier League player coming into the club. It looked like he was going to Wolves, but there was a hitch and we stepped in to bring him here.

'He's a big, pacey lad who will give us options across the front line.'

Kelvin made his senior debut for City in September 2007's Carling Cup win over Norwich and featured in Wednesdays win over Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

As the bar is raised, I see more and more academy players doing this (not all to Cardiff mind you)

Etuhu as been a massive disappointment for me. He looked decent alongside Sturridge in the youth team and scored on his debut for Sven in our 4-2 win against Bolton Wanderers 2 seasons ago. Its been all down hill for him ever since and I'd doubt that we'll ever see him in a City shirt again. It wouldn't surprise me if the Championship still proved to be 1 league too high for Kelvin and League 1 is probably his right level.

Kev, he would have been OK if we had not got the money to get in better quality. THats the difference now. I would like to say that he may still make the grade and that a year out is the norm, because he is getting regular, better class football than the reserves. If he shines with the Chapionship Leaders Cardiff, then we wiull have him back there is no doubt about that, but I have a feeling that he wont set the world on fire, well not for city anyway.

Kelvin was never good enough pre or post ADUG takeover. I hope he establishs a great career elseswhere.
