'If It's Football, It's Vital'

It's Official, Lescott Joins The City Revolution

Manchester City have officially confirmed that Joleon Lescott has finally joined the club from Everton after a drawn out transfer saga.

The 27-year-old defender has agreed a 5-year contract at Eastlands and City boss Mark Hughes was understandably delighted with the deal, stating: 'I am absolutely delighted to welcome Joleon to Manchester City. He is an England international who has proved his Premier League ability during his time at Everton.

'In bringing Joleon to the Club I feel we have recruited a defender of the very highest quality. He can play in a number of defensive positions, and I`m positive he will make a significant impact for us.'

Mark Hughes' pursuit of Lescott over the transfer window has been well documented, with Everton manager David Moyes reluctant to let his star defender leave the club.

The England international had a transfer request to leave the club turned down by the Everton boss before the Scott finally agreed to the move.

Lescott told the clubs offical website: 'I'm over the moon to get the move completed, and I'm looking forward to training with the lads as I've not trained for a few days.

'I know some of the lads already - I'm close friends with Shaun, we've played against each other since we were 16 or 17. The way this club is moving on, I'm really looking forward to being a part of that.'

Lescott joins a host of top players who have made the switch to the City of Manchester Stadium this summer, including the likes of Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor, Gareth Barry and Kolo Toure.

Way to overspend!
Manchester City have agreed a £6m deal for another striker - 18-year-old Serbia international Danijel Aleksic. Read more:
Sheep scum
Hes No JT tell u that right now...
PMSL @ RadioactiveD, Seriously mate, you're a chelsea fan aren't you? I really don't think any Chelsea fan can talk about overspending with a straight face.
Its OK for one of the so called top 4 to spend, but if its anyone else, its disgusting...

Too many new never yields instant success but in a year or 2 who knows.for the revolution to be complete get a new coach.i can imagine how mcfc fans(i wonder if there are any outside the city of manchester) are lescott u've gotten a truly overrated defender.happy spending!
Happy days, this saga is finally done and dusted. Blueogre there's plenty of City fans outside Manchester with myself being one them. Isn't it funny how every signing we make we have rival fans coming on here telling how useless and over rated they are.
Nice to see you carrying on with your tradition of constructive and informative comments zbaaaaam. Can't you just stick to sticking sheep?
Hopefully Lescott will improve the team but we have been well and truly ripped off. Hopefully we'll now look to sign a creative midfielder and as Sneijder appears to be going to Inter we should make do with Van Der Vaart. Oh and blueogre I'm a City fan from outside Manchester.
blueorge im 22 and ive been a city fan since late from cork in ireland, went to my first city game with my older brother (also a city fan in 1996) being going over ever since, all the way up and down the divisions. THAT ANSWER YOUR QUESTION????????
At long last -- and the relief is great. The final piece of the jigsaw for the 2009-10 season. We already have fantastic attacking and engine-room options. This should sort the defence out. Lescott will get plenty of games but so will Dunney, Onuoha and Toure. And with Sylvinho covering Bridge at Left Back... Richards and Zabaleta covering Right Back. Looks great!
overspend is abit of a far fetched statement when u consider our owner has only spent a fraction of what rom spent, you see my chelsea bunboys we have HUGE sponsors who pays our wages and most of the transfers, so our owner isnt spending as much of his own cash as you think i bet hes spent less than 50m of his own money while rom has spent over 500m OF HIS OWN MONEY, so overspend i think not if we can get 6 good years from scarface and 30 goals (from a defender) then its money well spent, (we all laughed at manure for spending 30m on rio 7 years ago but now we see he was prolly worth that 30m for the service he has given manure
3rd most expensive defender ever!! Holy defence, Batman!! Seriously speaking though, up to 24mil in total, methinks he is waaaay overpriced. Great defender though. Not 3rd best in the world but great nonetheless. Top goal scoring defender in the league too! @fifthcolumnblue - Baaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Sheep
I know I'm begging for criticism, as I make a joke about overspending on a City sight. Fair enough. Likewise, yes, I'm a Chelsea supporter and of course there's irony in me observing that you overpaid for Lescott. Does that change the fact that you did overpay? Of course not! I don't rate Lescott very highly and the fee you paid is outrageous, in my opinion. If you disagree, fine. He's yours now either way.
RadioactiveD, I am not going to get into that merely to say you did the same with SWP. nowhere near the value of £21m. anyway I think you miss the point. Its not what you value the player at and I would think that if you asked any City fanthey would agree with you that Lescott is not worth that much, but because we are Sheokh rattle and rolling in it, other clubs like they did to Chelsea, they put a few bob on top. Lescott is value for money because he is better than we have at the moment, which improves the team, he is left footed, which is a rarety and gives balance to the side, (even Chelseas' CB are both right footed.) All the top teams have a top notch defence, having no European competition to offer the really class players we have done well to get what we have and what we have is class, but just a point here, although we have paid over the top for players, It is the selling Clubs that have been greedy in these cases. We have sold players to other clubs or loaned out players at value for money prices. The only way for a club to reach the top these days and I quote Chelsea as an example was to spend a lot of money City are no different and should not be condemmed for doing so. Why not have a go at the selling Club for asking such high prices for players they know are not worth that much. Perhaps we should have a panel who at the start of each season puts a price on a player like they do in fantasy football and if a club wants to buy that player thats the price they pay and then its down to the player to choose the club he wants to go to.
