It's Official, Lescott Joins The City Revolution

Manchester City have officially confirmed that Joleon Lescott has finally joined the club from Everton after a drawn out transfer saga.

The 27-year-old defender has agreed a 5-year contract at Eastlands and City boss Mark Hughes was understandably delighted with the deal, stating: 'I am absolutely delighted to welcome Joleon to Manchester City. He is an England international who has proved his Premier League ability during his time at Everton.

'In bringing Joleon to the Club I feel we have recruited a defender of the very highest quality. He can play in a number of defensive positions, and I`m positive he will make a significant impact for us.'

Mark Hughes' pursuit of Lescott over the transfer window has been well documented, with Everton manager David Moyes reluctant to let his star defender leave the club.

The England international had a transfer request to leave the club turned down by the Everton boss before the Scott finally agreed to the move.

Lescott told the clubs offical website: 'I'm over the moon to get the move completed, and I'm looking forward to training with the lads as I've not trained for a few days.

'I know some of the lads already - I'm close friends with Shaun, we've played against each other since we were 16 or 17. The way this club is moving on, I'm really looking forward to being a part of that.'

Lescott joins a host of top players who have made the switch to the City of Manchester Stadium this summer, including the likes of Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor, Gareth Barry and Kolo Toure.

PMSL @ RadioactiveD, Seriously mate, you're a chelsea fan aren't you? I really don't think any Chelsea fan can talk about overspending with a straight face.

Happy days, this saga is finally done and dusted. Blueogre there's plenty of City fans outside Manchester with myself being one them. Isn't it funny how every signing we make we have rival fans coming on here telling how useless and over rated they are.
