City And The rags League Cup Fixtures Confirmed

And the story is that both clubs will play their respective Carling Cup third round fixtures at home in Manchester and just outside Manchester on the same night...

Of course, the spectre of Sky TV is never very far away from any agreement of this nature which meant the rags were forced to play their satellited game with Wolves on Wednesday 23rd September at 8pm BST.

Neither side would have been prepared to play on the Tuesday night as the Manchester Derby at the swamp will be taking place a couple of days earlier on the Sunday.

We understand that City were prepared to play Fulham on the Thursday as we don't play West Ham until the following Monday night but Fulham would have been stumped as they must play Arsenal a couple of days later on the Saturday.

Apparently, Manchester Coppers gave the dual home ties the go ahead once it was confirmed that both games would kick off at 8pm. This was to give fans the incentive of needing to travel home quicker after the game has finished.

Dead right. I mean, every second must count for journeys from Stretford to Manchester Airport, London and the Home Counties...

They obviously don't have their own Constabulary in Salford then!

Kev used to be different forces, Stretford Town used to be policed by Lancashire constabulary, whilt the City matches have always been policed by the Manchester Police. Now they have amalgamated, even Wigan & Bolton are now under the same force. They will probably get more problems on the M^ & M1 from the Fulham and United fans travelling up from the smoke.

Can't see there being any trouble, as there will be so much traffic that no one will be able to move. The only trouble will be the Fulham and Manure fans fighting over the last pasty at Watford Gap services.
