Weiss Poised To Come Of Age

MCFC Academy graduate Vladimir Weiss' stock continues to rise with every game. A gem of a footballer, it can't be long before the lad plays a bigger part for City...

19 year old Weiss played an important part in Slovakia's 0-2 win over Northern Ireland in Belfast last night, his run and cross down the right flank leading to Stanislav Sestak's opening goal.

The quicksilver Weiss, son of Slovakia coach Vladimir Weiss senior has steadily been making waves at SportCity, taking him through a starring role in last year's FA Youth Cup Final win over Chelsea (what free kick he scored) right up to a more than promising performance in City's 0-1 win at Barcelona's packed Nou Camp cauldron last month.

Post match that night Mark Hughes said:

'Barcelona have great depth, great young talent, but I thought Vladimir Weiss was the best young player out there tonight.'

Vital MC debated Weiss's potential only a few week's ago and it seems that with each run out, the faith Sparky has shown him in making him one of his revitalised 24 man senior squad is being repaid as he pushes for a Premier League start.

This kid is going to be a star. His performances over the past six months have been nothing short of outstanding and I can't wait for him to get his first team chance. City should make signing Weiss up to a big contract their number one priority.

Playing for his country will only benefit this club even more as the lad gets to play better oppostion and play with quality players. I am sure that he will be SWP's biggest threat to his place in the side.
Buzz Lightyear
Weiss will be a city legend. When swp gets injured, he will find it hard to get his place back. Weiss has everything in his locker to be the best winger in the premier league.

weiss was the man of the match vs the north last night.ran rings around johnny evans to set up the first goal.watch out for this kid.
mcfcirish
by the reports ive read and heard he had a pretty good game last night and ran ireland ragged and setup there first goal. the more city players that get into the world cup the better for me.
bluemooner_mcfc
Wouldn't surprise me to see Weiss playing some part against the gunners on Saturday. Just as Wenger introduced Walcott as a surprise package, Weiss could come into the side as a total unknown and throw a spanner into Wenger's plans. The only difference is that Walcott has proved to be pants, whereas Weiss looks the business. Are you watching Tom14?
fifthcolumnblue
I agree fifthcolumnblue. Walcot is overrated and weiss will eclipse him.
enzo city
I liked the match report on Sky text where it said that Manchester City's Vladimir Weiss absolutely skinned Johnny Evans before crossing for the first goal - With our mounting injury problems in attack maybe this could be a pointer for Sunday week?
Kevinho
If SWP not on top form today Vlad could come on as sub and may shock a few people. He is exciting, just needs to calm down and not try to dribble his way through defenses like their is no tomorrow.
Buzz Lightyear
Precarious talent, but the way you lot are getting excited, he'll go to pot like Walcott. Take it easy fellas!
