Arsenal Build Up: Wenger In Support Of Ade

The big match build up is underway on VMC and as our Arsenal old boys prepare to meet their former team-mates Arsene Wenger has spoken out in support of Emmanuel Adebayor...

The Arsenal gaffer is back in the capital after completing his regular commentary stint with France's TF1 national TV channel for the Serbia France clash. He told the Gunners site:

'Adebayor has started the season on fire and we have to put that fire out. I personally don't think that Adebayor was obsessed by money.

'I must say that to be fair to him, and we can deal with that. We have a very fair financial potential. If you consider the Premier League you cannot say we are one of the bottom clubs financially.'

Fair play to the Frenchman. This correspondent is one of his staunchest critics but he didn't have to say in the climate of anti-City hysteria that and certainly the likes of the rags Sir Alex Taggart never would in similar circumstances.

Meanwhile Arsenal have been rocked by the news that Andrei Arshavin will miss the Eastlands powder keg through international duty injury.

That certainly evens up City's thus far confirmed absence of Carlos Tevez.

Wenger is opinionated, and despite being quite ridiculous at times has always taken sent backs in his stride and apologised when one was due, a credit to the english game and to france

fair play to wenger.........

Can't argue with those comments. Fair play Arsene, you've just gone up to -320 celcius in the respect stakes. (which is a godd deal warmer than a certain bacon-faced manager I know)

Ive always been a wenger fan.

No Arshavin, lets hope that Eduardo stays on his feet in the penalty area and that the ref checks hes not wearing his speedo gear.

I've always had a high opinion of Wenger. He may have a whinge about the refs from time to time but he very rarely says a bad word about anyone.

These were fair comments by Wenger and I just hope that Adebayor doesn't try too hard and take the wrong options tomorrow as we are playing Arsenal as he will want to get one over on them.
