Video: Should Adebayor Have Been Sent Off Poll?

Vital Manchester City is running a forum poll in which we ask...

'Video Evidence: Should Emmanuel Adabayor Have Been Sent Off?'

Following Emmanuel Adebayor's so-called stamping incident against his former team-mate, Robin van Persie, should match referee Mark Clattenburg have shown Ade an immediate red card.

It seems to me Ade was trying to avoid Van Persie rather than anything malicious. As usual, the media have picked on Ade simply because he is a high profile player. Anyway, why would he want to hurt anyone?
RVP slide in two footed "to do" adebayor, adebayor was quick footed, RVP missed and slided ahead of adebayor, under his feet. Adebayors momentum forced him forward and it was impossible to place his feet away from RVP head. Hence the contact with RVP cheek. The irony is - if RVP didnt go in two footed to hurt adebayor (RVP released a statement claiming hes never had the intention to hurt fellow professionals......) his head wouldnt be placed in that situation. Adebayor didnt deserve to be sent of and arsenal fans acted like animals when adebayor celebrated on the pitch, without gesturing to the fans. Unlike RVP how ran of the pitch to the fans and unleased a mouth full of expletives to city fans. Who didnt react. Adebayor did no wrong doing.

disagree Tudor, as a total neutral van persie should possibly have had a red for his tackle but ade was a disgrace, no way was that not meant. I hope he gets in trouble for that, they all have to learn you cannot get away with filth like that.
The Fear
Think you are way off enzo, ALL fans would have behaved like that if taunted the way they were, including your lot, my lot and any other lot. Not saying it is right, but that is what happens. Abe should have known better and Hughes should have lambasted him for it. Then again, Hughes was a dirty player and is a dirty manager as I told him at Villa Park last season, he didn't like it much to be honest! :o)
The Fear
I look forward to the Arsenal fans who were singing racist abuse all game long to be found by the police and receive similar bans to the Spurs fans who had a go at Sol Campbell last season. A large number of these Arsenal 'fans' went to the game yesterday with the intention of barracking and abusing Adebayor after being stirred up by certain elements of the media all week long rather than to support their own team and they got exactly what they wanted. All the negative press rather covers over the fact that they also lost the match.
It was NOT deliberate. Video from a different angle clearly show that.
I don't have a PHD in physics, but I'm pretty sure that to avoid something you don't move towards it. Just sayin'
I dont know which video uv been watchin Zeenut.....its fair to say that he may not have meant to stamp on RVP's head but he clearly DID stamp down.....The guys an idiot...but he's a great player!!!!....BTW how good was Bellamy??
he is total idiot, that isn't only incident. His IQ is around 75. He played football along that guys and play for that supporters.
If the F.A. do decide to punish Ade in some way I hope they give at least the same to van Persie, had he not gone in with a two footed challenge as he did the incident would not have occured. As for the goal celebration - brilliant, the arse fans wanted rid of him and he showed them what he thought of their treatment of him. Oh, I havn't actually checked but I don't think Arsen Whinger has complained about anything other than his own team. de
persy should get done for attempted assualt while ade should be claiming self defence cos thats how it looked to me it was a two footed lunge a follow through basically an attack so ade should claim self defence while pointing out that it was him that was first attacked
Enzo - are you really that deluded!? 'without gesturing to the fans' idiot
I reckon he'll be hauled before the suits - you'll see - shades of Gary Neville and all that!
Adebayor posed, arms wide apart, without saying a word - this action caused grown men to act like thugs and hooligans. Unlike RVP how ran of the pitch to city fans swearing. No city fan reacted like the arsenal fans. These poor arsenal fans need a cuddle. If 3000 men choose to target a player, his wife, his parents and his race - adebayor is entitled to give u gooners some stick back! If you southern thugs (spurs, westham, millwall etc) cant handle what you dish out i suggest u take up knitting. Its a mans game - GROW UP! I say this again - if rooney scores against city and celebrates infront of the city fans, after hes taken dogs abuse of us all game - i would have NO problem with rooney. City fans have proven in the past that we can behave ourselves (like 95% of clubs) in this situation. I pray adebayor scores a hatrick at emirates.

Merlin - So he can expect a £5,000 fine and a warning about his future conduct. I'd take that but I won't hold my breath as my face would turn the same colour as my home shirt and as he doesn't play for United he'll no doubt be hung out to dry.
It looked to be a deliberate stamp at the hand. I don't think he ever intended to get RVP in the head. It does however look worse every time I watch it so I reckon theres a ban coming up no doubt.
The Van Persil issue is getting frothed up by the Press with no mercy. I think Arsenal's lttle darling is being a girl's blouse about it all. I've had worse injuries in rows with the missus about next to nothing. Not all the Press is being vindictive though. Jamie Redknapp, in the Mail, isn't defending Adsebayor as such but he does say this about the whiter-than-white Arsenal player: "Before Robin van Persie gets too much sympathy, it was his lunging tackle that started it all. I’m not saying it deserves a stamp but he’s not innocent. If he doesn’t lunge in, he doesn’t get retaliation." Well said, Jamie.
As the dust settles and I consider how rarely Arsenal have lost in recent years, a lot of the hysteria we are seeing increasingly looks as if it's fuelled by an almost total inability to come to terms with defeat in a lot of Arsenal quarters.
Johnny Baguette
And since when did anything Jamie Redknapp say deserve any credit. Johnny i wont lie, the defeat hurt as i hate losing but the Adebayor situation is what rubs me the wrong way. We lost to City last year in a more himiliating manor and you heard no complaints. The fact that Adebayor should have been sent off, not even applogise to RVP, then scored, then ran 100ms as if he was Usain bolt to slide in front of Arsenal fans, then have Hughes say we should cut him some slack, then have Adebayor come and lie. Not to mention the referee missing a handball by Barry. its a bit hard to swallow.
paul_ownz and you know he didnt say sorry do you? did persy girl ring you up and say so? i think you will find the 2nd side to the story in the press today, ade said he tried to say sorry and give persygirl a hug but he completely ignored him then persygirl runs straight to the press in a kiss and tell story, and as for he should of been sent off or he broke a fingernail GROWUP you win some you lose some, anyway forget arsenal now we have bigger fish to fry this week arsenal are history and i look forward to the fa probe into the way there supporters acted if its good enough for spuds fans then its good enough for arsenal fans to!
