Derby: Bellamy Only Available Striker To Face Rags

The fever pitch successful ban Adebayor campaign that has raged since City's 4-2 win over Arsenal leaves City with no options up front now Carlos Tevez is confirmed as out...

Assistant Manager Mark Bowen has advised the official site that Tevez is 'very doubtful' for Sunday's Manchester derby:

'What we are hearing is that it's probably going to keep him out, but until the doctor assesses him hands-on we don't really know.
The boss has been in contact with the Argentina medical team, as has our medical team.

'But the signs are not encouraging. We wouldn't 100% rule him out yet - fingers crossed and we are always hopeful, but it's very doubtful.'

Tevez's absence following on from Adebayor's certain ban leaves Mark Hughes a frustrated man with his revitalised six man senior strike force now decimated.

Tevez joins Roque Santa Cruz, Benjani, and Robinho on the treatment table.

Sparky will now know that his rejuvenated side, having fused quickly and already proving they can beat anyone on their day will only have Craig Bellamy up front when only a fortnight ago it looked as if we would be in a strong position to have a real go at the League Champions.

The lack of height that plagued our forward line all last season has returned and it's now pointless bemoaning City allowing one striker too many to leave this past summer.

One thing's for sure, we can rely on Bellamy to give it 110% based on his previous battling performances.

'We are tougher and stronger,' said the Welsh terrier this week.

Despite the club coming under siege from all angles this week, if the team continue to work hard for each other and battle away, there's no reason why we can't continue to upset the Big Four apple cart.

If Arsenal fans are anything to go by, the rags wouldn't be able to handle a defeat!

No surrender. Siege mentality.

Call italy... get Bojinov back.

The rags must be worried sick. They rested 5 players tonight for their Champions League game in Turkey.

we will have to play swp off bellers and play petrov to give us some width along with barry NDJ and ireland in the middle, we will be ok we can take these weve still got the firepower in the team even without 4 of our 5 first choice strikers, i have faith in bellers who seems to be in great form coming into the derby 2-1 to city

hey tottenham fan here. bellamy is good but needs a partner to thrive, maybe ireland playin high right behind him? please beat the ***** out of man u. i hate them with a passion. how long is robinho out?
attwooll9
robi is out for 4-6 weeks, ireland could even be out yet aswell we could end up playing a very depleted squad indeed
mark.mcfc.wedged
Weiss can play as a striker. Could be his time to shine.

attwooll9 - that's two teams we detest in common then! ;)

Well we may only have Bellamy as the FA have kindly put Adebayor out of contention in an attempt to even things up for the rags and Robinho is definitely missing. Add to that the massive injury doubts surrounding Tevez, Santa Cruz and dare I say it even Benjani we now have only Bellamy as the last man standing. Where are the media now after they were criticle for us having 10 strikers when we now have only 1. Hopefully we will have our compliment of wingers/attacking midfielders as the best way to combat our sudden lack of striking options. Remember we beat them there 2 seasons ago with Vassell and Benjani up front so we still have everything to play for this time around.

Alright lads? What about a sending off? Bellamy has to be a favourite for you lot.
