May The Farce Be With You: FA Go After Bellamy

A rag pitch invader made it on to the swamp turf at the end of Old Trafford Extra Time. He went for Craig Bellamy who alledgedly sent him packing. Cue FA investigation...

As we predicted here last night the English Football Association have confirmed that they will pursue the issue at the behest of the rags who swamped phone in's last night clamouring for a banning of the never say die City striker.

Brilliant Bellamy Next For Adebayor Hate Campaign?

The spokesperson's statement reads:

'We are investigating the incident and we will be looking at the referee's match report.'

Another potential 3-match ban for one of our strikers?
Tudor
so in otherwords the police are just waiting to see what the media make of it first before deciding whether to charge him or not!, the witch hunt against him will start to pickup volume tomorrow when theres nothing else to write about, the only reason the fan hasnt complained yet is because he was prolly in a police cell all night and into court this morning im sure the hacks will be waiting outside of court to get an exclusive from him as soon as hes released with a slap on the wrist
mark.mcfc.wedged
The media are twisting the police report. They have to investigate all instances where someone goes on the pitch.... the guy who invaded made no complaint against Bellers and Bellers made no complaint against him. They still have to investigate though because it's a public order offence. I like to see we were right though.... hardly any mention anywhere of the rag fan throwing a coin at Tevez and hitting Garrido in the face. Just this. This is even getting more air time than the fact that golden goal extra time was played in a league match for the first time in league history.
MCFC_Goatboy
He'll probably then get to go on TV and reveal the truth about how Bellamy singled him out for a merciless battering. The self same media hysteria Ricky Gervais pointed at in Extras is off again.
Johnny Baguette
Theoretically Bellamy gave the fan what he deserved ... but in simple terms you can not strike someone in the face/neck/whereever he got him when they have been restrained ... and on live tv.
Rocky7
Anybody else see the drooling rags at the Mirror going to press literally a few hours after the final whistle with the top ten Bellamy worst moments? Unbelievable.
Johnny Baguette
JB, they've no doubt had that ready ever since Bellamy was first rumoured to sign for City...
erased
If the stupid **** hadn't gone over to a situation already handled, there wouldn't be anything for them to go after him for. It's his own fault, nobody else's, if he gets a ban.
EvertonMike
Yet to see it. Did he go over to the fan or vice versa?
Johnny Baguette
fan was stopped at least 5 metres from Bellamy and about 5 stewards had hold of him, no chance of him getting away. So Bellamy walks over and gives him a slap
EvertonMike
JB the stewards had him pinned down got him up and Bellamy walked over and just pushed his head, nothing to it than that. The referee saw it and spoke to Bellamy and did nothing. That should be the end of it.
buzz lightyear
Craig is the poster-child for level head and good behavior... Sure fan who ran on the pitch deserves a punch in his dumb skull, but it's not Craig's job to do.. especially when situation seem to be dealt with. Perhaps Huges should re-evaluate his own decision making and keep short leash on his bulldogs. All this said, fantastic match yesterday, you lot should have gotten something out of the game...
emigre
any sign of the fa charging utd for the missile thrower at the end of the first half?
mcfcirish
there was no need whatsoever for bellers to go upto the man and hit him, alls i can think is that he was shouting some vile stuff at bellers and that made him flip, on the street he would of got arrested for assualt i have no doubts about that! so expect the book to be beaten off bellemys head
mark.mcfc.wedged
Just seen it. No doubt that rag was spitting out all sorts of venom. A dismissive push in the face is all it was. Nonsense.
Johnny Baguette
Bellamy and the fan should both get done. You condemed Arsenal fans for retaliating Adebayors provocation and called them animals for throwing stuff and trying to get him, yet a fan running up to Bellamy in a provoking manner warrants a punch?
paul_ownz
paul ownz go back to ur own side, arsenal fans are thugs and you can add manure fans to that list to, it wasnt a city fan who ran on the pitch was it? it wasnt a city fan who chucked the coin almost having garridos eye out?, your a muppet and your statement makes no sense at all
mark.mcfc.wedged
Paul if you think that was a punch you've never seen one. Unless punches are done at 1 mph with the palm of your hand.
MCFC_Goatboy
That was a punch? Good grief.
Johnny Baguette
The pitch invader has been charged.
Johnny Baguette
The pitch invader on the match of the day feed threw away a weapon just before being taken down - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYvOssZipwk - no wonder Bellers got a little upset.
MCFC_Goatboy
Was the weapon a banana?

SORRY FIRST TIME ON THIS FORUM BUT HERE GOES UNFORTUNATELY DURING THIS DERBY GAME I HAD TO SIT AMONGST THE RED LOT IN THEIR HORRIBLE NORTH STAND 2nd TEIR, BUT FROM THIS ANGLE I GOT A DIFFERANT VIEW OF THE BELLAMY INCIDENT. AS THE RED SCUM WAS RUNNING FROM THE OLDE STRETFORD END, I GOT A GOOD VIEW OF HIM AND THERES A POINT THAT HASNT BEEN MENTIONED (I THINK). IN HIS RIGHT HAND, AS HE WAS RUNNING HE WAS CARRYING A SHORT METAL OBJECT WHICH WAS SHINNING IN THE AFTERNOON SUN. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD AND MAYBE WAS A WEAPON TO BE USED ON CRAIG BELLAMY OR WHOEVER HE GOT TO FIRST. THE STEWARDS DID THEIR JOB VERY SUCCESSFULLY IN APREHENDING THE NUTTER AND THE OBJECT WAS DROPPED ONTO THE PITCH. IF YOU WATCH CLOSELY THE VIDEO OF THIS INCIDENT (CLEARLY VISIBLE ON MOTD) YOU WILL SEE THAT IT FLIES OUT OF HIS HAND AS HE WAS BROUGHT DOWN. COULD YOU USE YOUR CONTACTS TO WATCH THIS AGAIN AND REPORT TO THE FA IF YOU BELIEVE THAT WHAT I SAW WAS CORRECT
coolbob3
I firmly believe there is actually no case to answer. Bellamy simply "pushed the man away with an open hand"... The so-called fan should not have invaded the pitch while a match was on. It wasn't exactly like Cantona attacking a fan still in the stands with a Kung-fu kick, was it?
sindbad
Good grief. Thanks coolbob3. I see what you mean. Looks as if he throws it away with his left hand in the process of being grounded. I don't think it was an autograph book. We'll drop this off to City straight away. While I'm at it O'Shea, Ferdinand and Vidic don't do themselves any favours with their step ins. Fair play to Rooney for his calmer approach.
Johnny Baguette
So serious you guys. I was joking, clearly not a punch
paul_ownz
You likened somebody sliding on their knees on the pitch where he is supposed to be to someone breaking the law entering the pitch where he is not supposed to be with god knows what intentions... he obviously wasn't planning on streaking so you can only assume he was after kissing the ref and his magic watch. Bellamy is just a little homophobic is all and didn't want any of that nonsense at his place of work.
MCFC_Goatboy
Luckily he got away with this - probably partly due to the fact that the fan shouldn't have been on the pitch, partly due to the fact that the FA didn't want to take action against one of their own in Gary Neville for his celebration when he wasn't even part of the match and partly as the FA don't wish to appear biased against City by punishing one of our players every week.
