Body Language Indicates He's History

Has anyone seen Martin Petrov's body language just recently? If you have then you'll realise the 30-year-old Bulgarian is on the verge of leaving Manchester City.

Its difficult to pinpoint exactly when he formed his current arrogant attitude, but I suppose the more I think about it the more I believe it began pre-season.

Background

The following couple of paragraphs were taken from Wikipedia...

Following the influx of new players at Manchester City such as Carlos Tévez and Emmanuel Adebayor, Petrov was linked with a move away from the City of Manchester Stadium.

On 1 September 2009, Transfer deadline day, it was speculated that he would transfer to Tottenham, in a move which would see David Bentley heading to Eastlands. Tottenham would also receive Ł10 million as part of this deal, however Manchester City later denied they would be signing Bentley, either on-loan or permanently.

Luchezar Tanev, Petrov's agent, later stated that the move broke down 'because, in the final reckoning, Manchester City rejected the deal mainly due to manager Mark Hughes's unwillingness.

How many times has Petrov run past the dugout brandishing his name and number on the rear of his shirt?

As sure as night follows day City boss Mark Hughes will be looking to off-load the pacey winger, possibly as early as January.

Here are a few comments taken from our 100% Chat Forum.

bluemooner_mcfc - bad apple get rid.

Kevinho - I think that its safe to say that Martin Petrov will be gone in January now as Mark Hughes cannot keep on giving him the benefit of the doubt whenever any of his comments keep coming out whilst away on International duty. He has shown in the past that he will get rid of the alleged trouble makers in the squad like he did with Elano and that move doesn't seem to have done us any harm so far.

Bluedub - No surprise here, the camera panned on to him as he sat back on the bench the other night and he was spitting venom. I reckon it's adiós in January.

severedgein - Why is it that some players as they reach their final years don't mind taking a back seat to younger/better players, but some get cranky like Rigsby here?

Thanks for the goals Martin. Perhaps learn some humility when you get shipped off to Turkey with Elano.

Joe0161 - did say on the night that I bet Petrov was pee'd off at being left on the bench all game after his recent performances. Although he shouldn't open his mouth (unless he wants a move) I do feel for him as well. I don`t see what more he can do on the pitch to merit more time on it in consecutive matches.

Hope he doesn't leave in Jan because he's a quality player who always gives 100%

It will be a shame to lose him but the only way hes gunna get in the team is if we have a stack of injuries/suspensions like v West Ham its a shame Hughes didnt have the balls to chuck Petrov on at Villa cos i think he would of won us that match, thanks for the service rigs and i hope to see one or two more star performances before you vacate the building

Rigsby and Garrido are the last of the Svennis signings. Has this been a factor in the flying Blugar's problems?
Johnny Baguette
Maybe he was pointing to his shirt #, because it's his flight # when he leaves. It sure as hell ain't his transfer fee. All seriousness though, he's a real good player, but when surrounded by the stars we have he needs to appreciate that this is a team game, and play his ass off when he is called upon.
BlueWolfie
Much as I love to watch Rigsby flying down the wing, I absolutely hate the gaps he leaves behind him. If he's not happy (and seeing as this is about his hundredth public whine, I believe he might just be!) then he needs to move on. Pity, as I can't see him getting another club of our stature at this stage of his career, but if he keeps whining to the press every time he goes back to Bulgaria then I say get rid before his attitude infects others in the dressing room.

I can't see anyway that he can now stay beyond January, but I hope they don't sell him to Spuds as one of our main rivals
Buzz Lightyear
This smacks of another 'Elano' - MH won't like his attitude and i feel he could be gone in January.
Thaibluefan
Everyone needs to be on the same page and have the teams best interests at heart and not be there for personal gratification. Martin Petrov seems to only care about Martin Petrov at the moment and City don't need players like him stirring up trouble in the dressing room. Will be gone come January if he continues along the same line which is a shame as he is a quality player.

I can understand petrovs frustration at being dropped against villa after performing well against west ham. I couldnt understand his frustration at pre-season when he wanted to leave and because robinho took his place. Surely he understood that city are trying to be a big club and need a big squad - he should fight for his place. Imagine his frustration when robinho is injured - then... striker bellamy has been transformed into the best left winger in the premiership, dropping petrov down the pecking order. With berbatov being his best friend, i could see that ***** encouraging him to leave. Id be sad to see him go, like i was sad when elano went. But city are getting players of a higher calibre and with top professional attitudes now (i never thought id ever say that!)
