Referee Alan Wiley Rated Average - Just!

Sir Alex Ferguson is in the mire having blasted Premier League referee Alan Wiley as unfit to officiate a game of football. How did you rate Mr Wiley following City's 1-1 draw at Wigan?

Here are a few comments taken from our Match Day forum.

Kevinho - I don't think that he had a very good match at all to be honest...

BlueWolfie - I have given him three, but only because I wanted to give him 2.5, and I can't so I rounded it up.

fifthcolumnblue - I agree with BW, 2.5, but as I'm a pessimist I voted 2.

We should have had a pen, Wigan's disallowed goal probably shouldn't have been, and the Zab sending off was a bit dubious.

If Wiley hadn't let too much go in the first 15 mins he'd have had a better grip on the game, but needed to start flashing cards around once things started getting a bit out of hand.

No questioning his fitness really, just his decision making which was average at best.

MCFC_Goatboy - I gave him a 5 because I'm mildly retarded.

I still reckon Wiley looks like Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart from the old Doctor Who days!

Average, Yes. Just? NOT!
fifthcolumnblue
Yeah, average. First Zab booking was a tad harsh.

He is a very poor referee and one who has never given us anything. I remember him once sending off Daniel Van Buyten in a 2-1 defeat at Leeds despite the fact that Alan Smith fouled him which just about sums him up really.
Kevinho
All Alan's are bad refs. I think it was 'Alan' Wilkie who gave that pen to the rags away in the cup ages ago. The game Rossler chipped Schmeichel for us. I remember Keane moaning about the ref giving a foul against the rags and then start clapping when he realised the ref was on drugs. That's one of my most bitter ref memories... I'll always remember that it was shocking.
