'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Pet Sounds

Martin Petrov's cool curler at Wigan secured an invaluable point last weekend. Post match, The Flying Bulgar again called for a place in Mark Hughes starting XI...

There's more of a conciliatory tone to Petrov's latest comments considering he dished out some mightily frustrated and fed up words earlier in the season.

He narked some of us with those comments as we'd seen City stick by the player through a serious knee injury last season. We know that on his day he is a class act and that Premier League defences are terrified of him when he is charging at them full tilt.

Petrov told the official site, not the nonsense that is the Daily Mirror as has been mistakenly reported elsewhere:

'I'm happy with my form. I'm a professional football player and I want to show the manager that I'm in good form and that I should have a place in this team. I'm happy here and I want to continue here.'

It's clear Petrov is hungry and the competition for places is intensifying at 5th placed City.

YOU are the gaffer. Would you give Rigsby the gloved thumbs up for Fulham?

Well he should continue in the starting line-up against Fulham as his rivals for the left wing slot appear to be injured at the moment. It is now up to Martin to make the position his own if he is as good as he is forever telling the press he is.
Kevinho
He seems to revel in the open spaces at Eastlands. Any Roy Hodgson side is difficult to break down so we will need pace like Petrov's to hit them hard from the first whistle.

I think it will depend on the tactics MH wants to adopt that will determine ie Petrov plays or not.
Thaibluefan
If Bellamy comes back then Petrov may find himself warming the bench again.
