Referee Kevin Friend Didn't Do Himself Any Favours


Man City 2-2 Fulham: Sunday's match referee, Kevin Friend didn't do himself any favours.

Our current poll and subsequent comments made by our Vital Manchester City members think the Leicestershire based ref had a howler.

Kevinho - 1 - Overawed, out of his depth, lack of knowledge of the rules and got several key decisions wrong.

If it wasn't for the fact that referees are now professional I would have said don't give up your day job as he actually made last weeks referee Alan Wiley look like Pierluigi Collina in comparison and Wiley was pretty bad last week!

cityman51 - I went for 1 as he nearly lost control when their forward was down he rightly waved play-on and SWP raced clear and sent a cross only for the Fulham centre half to clear, then all hell was let loose when the said Fulham players surrounded SWP and neither Officials did anything about it...and as for the disallowed goal I'm still trying to come to terms with that one, he also got some major decisions wrong for both sides. so it was not a good display from the referee today.

I'm no Friend of Kevin's after that shambles. He wasn't on his own though - the assistant on my side of the field was consistently 20 yards behind play and missed virtually everything. The ref must have overruled his poor decisions on at least 3 or 4 ocassions, including his failure to award an indisputable corner!

fifth-i was on that side of the ground too, his performance was an absolute shambles. The one good thing about the referee was that he had the balls to overrule those ridiculous decisions
