United Snap Up City Youngster

League One outfit Carlisle United have signed Manchester City midfielder Adam Clayton on loan until January.

He joins Greg Abbott's side even though the promising 20-year-old has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Citizens.

Clayton was included as part of the England Under-20 squad for the World Cup and has been a regular in City's world renound youth team and for the reserve team.

Abbott stated on Carlisle's official website: 'He was on the brink of the first team last season but, with the arrival of the likes of Robinho and Gareth Barry, it has become very competitive.

'City have been fantastic with us and they see this as an opportunity for their player to come in and help us, by giving us some depth in a key position.

'We're really looking forward to working with him,'
the Carlisle manager concluded.

This lads a cracking player from what I've seen of him. Haven't heard much of the lad recently, David Ball being the most talked up but I understand is out for 6 weeks.

This will be good experience for him as he continues his footballing education.

JB, I am sure the headline, made a few hearts flutter at the idea of United taking one of our academy stars. We all wish Adam Clayton success in this loan move and hope that he comes back an even better player for the experience.
